It’s official: Brownback signs bill saying life begins at fertilization

So how do you give both mother and fetus full human rights, WristTwister, without one of them having rights that trumps the others?

Petitions delivered urging Brownback to veto anti-abortion measures

Matthew 7: 1-2 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Matthew 7: 3-5 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Col 2:18-19: Do not be taken in by people who like groveling to angels, and worshiping them; people like that are always going on about some vision they have had, inflating themselves to a false importance with their worldly outlook. A man of this sort is not united to the head.

See we can quote Bible verses, too. Now do you have any actual rational arguments?

Yes yes, we see you know how to quote the Bible. Problem is, you're also talking to people who don't believe in your God. So quoting the Bible isn't going to be very convincing whatsoever.

How about trying some logical arguments, or ones based on real actual science.

“Pro-life” is simply a philosophy in which the only life worth saving is the one that can be saved by punishing a woman.

That right there is it, in a nutshell. Also hi Cait. Glad you liked the article. ;)

Then I take it you're ok with taxes going to education, feeding childern, helping mothers to be able to care for said children. And you're out there every day getting your hands dirty. Helping out the mothers who are poor, mentally ill, isolated. Because this rhetoric you're spewing on the internet isn't doing anything for women until you get out there and make a real difference by trying to change the system that keeps women from being able to make healthy choices about their bodies and sexuality.

If you think your job is done just because the child is born, then you are not pro-life. You're pro-birth.

Again, the question is: How do you grant full rights to both the mother and the fetus without one having rights that trump the other's. Not what are the current constitutional rights of a fetus. Try to pay attention in critical thinking class, please.

That is not the answer to the question. The question isn't who has rights and who doesn't. The question is: How do you grant full rights to both the mother and the fetus without one having rights that trump the other's.

Birth control fails, it's possible even in cases where used properly. Parents don't always monitor their children (let the TV or internet do the babysitting) or provide adequate (or any in some cases) sex education. Rape does, in fact, result in pregnancy. Abusive husbands/boyfriends will often force their wives/girlfriends to get pregnant to bind them to them permanently.

What I wanna know is, if you're so gung ho to force women to give birth, are you also willing to help feed, educate and protect these children? (Through paying taxes or actually doing something yourself) Are you willing to help the mother provide for the child?

Chances are, no, you wouldn't. Most of these pro-birth people (because pro-life isn't the correct moniker) think their job is done simply because the child is born. To be pro-life is to provide for the children that result when abortion is outlawed or severely restricted.
