Lawrence man jumps in to help police officer subdue out-of-control suspect

"I'll respond once, but if you continue to insult me, I'll ask you to stop responding to my posts, and stop discussing things with you."

Escaped sex offender captured Tuesday in Oread neighborhood

I cannot help but notice that you are also anonymous. And you are also reading this "poor excuse for a paper". Are you actually defending the info provided to the public regarding an escaped prisoner?

Yeah, okay. I wrote the comment in haste and my point was lost. Thank you for the advice. I made myself an aluminum hat and got myself a police scanner app.

As a parent, I find the lack of information provided insulting. This could be a violent offender and we are sending our kids to school without any information. This is ridiculous!!!!!!!

Jenkins says Schlingensiepen should apologize to her for comment

"As he has at previous campaign appearances, Schlingensiepen decried the influence of money in Congress, saying a congressional representative can sit on a committee in the morning and then take money from the corporate lobbyist with business before that committee in the evening “over cocktails.”

It appears she jumped to conclusions thinking this statement was only about her. Implied? Perhaps, but more about the entire atmosphere of DC. But, ok, if you want to take credit for it all......

State agency refuses to answer questions from legislators about growing waiting lists

"Pro-Life"???????? I must have missed the fine print with the exclusions and the list of those (who already exist outside the womb) who do not quailfy. Effing disgusting.

Statehouse Live: Jenkins says some are happy to stay unemployed to collect benefits

It's easy to forget that Pro-Life means Pro- Everyone's Life.

Statehouse Live: Jenkins says some are happy to stay unemployed to collect benefits

"They want to end Medicaid because people should pay for their own health care, but they don’t educate themselves to the fact that the vast majority of users are elderly, disabled or children who are unable to work, let alone pay for themselves. Many of the most costly recipients are developmentally disabled who require 24 hour care literally to stay alive, a very expensive proposition and yes, many of them are very young children."

It's easy (easier) to be pro-life when it is just about babies. Add in all of life's complications and the money gets cut. Nice PRO-LIFE stance, eh?

Fired officer suing city

The court of law to which you refer is criminal court. Monroe is not there, nor will he be. It is an upcoming civil matter that he has likely been advised to not discuss at this time. How does reporting corruption make Monroe look childish? You are equating a tattle-tale to a whistle blower. Why should he take the demotion if he knows he did nothing wrong? He will now be airing his side in civil court-- get the popcorn cause you can go see it first hand. Will the Emperor wear his new clothes? It remains to be seen. I think it's fair to say that there is enough reason to doubt everything you hear from anyone other than Monroe, Khatib, Corliss, or Wheeler on grounds of speculation, or as you called it, "just a rumor".

Fired officer suing city

How was this even a "crime" if charges were not filed? I get your point about corruption, but not the "crime" statement. This is a department policy violation. Smoking a joint is a crime (here).
