Fetal rights
Why should the crime of a person committing rape, justify the commission of another act of violence by their victim? While the first crime is indeed a tragedy, two wrongs don't make it right to kill.

Brownback made personal appeal to House Republicans to approve mammoth tax cut
We can do a much better job spending our own money than giving it to the topeka or Washington.

Should pharmacists be allowed to refuse to dispense contraception based on their personal beliefs?
If you believe your right to obtain contraceptive/abortifacient beliefs trump another person rights then find a pharmacist who will fill your perscription. The same holds true for doctors and abortion as well as for doctors and those wanting help killing themselves.

Democratic nuns?
Catherine, I think it would be a good for you to continue to reflect on why your conscious sometimes bothers you regarding this matter. Our conscious is a gift from God to help us know right from wrong, good from evil. We must listen to our conscious. But, we are also responsible to properly form our conscious. As Catholics, we must look to Christ himself through his visible expression here on earth, the Church, for this formation. Our Pope and Bishops are our shepherds and teachers who have been given the authority from Christ Himself to hold and protect the Faith and the Truth. He did not give this authority to anyone else. So, we must look to our Pope and Bishops for the guidance to know how to authentically understand our Faith and how to love God and our neighbor. When we listen to those that our leading us away from this authoritative teaching, we are drifting away from Christ who is the Way and the Truth.

Kansas Senate passes abortion bill, sending it to governor
Great Bill!!! One person should not be able to force another person to participate in an action against their conscience or will. Our President and many in Washington as well as here in Lawrence do not agree with this. Come on freedom lovers, protectors of choice! To propose forcing someone to have to do something against their will is not just, not freedom, not a value that we should promote in our country or anywhere else. It is truly not being tolerant.
