Police cite 27 motorists in Monday night seat-belt enforcement

If they had to clean up after an accident I'll bet they would start wearing them and not complain

Duo has plan to convert Teller's into gastropub with heavy emphasis on craft beers; Papa Murphy's opens with special event for Boys and Girls Club today

Tellers food never disappointed. I loved it! But the prices were so sky high I only went about once per year. I'm eager to see the change. I hope they have some healthy options too.

Kansas Action for Children criticizes Brownback's plan to divert funds from children's endowment

Brownback should talk to the head of Missouri prisons who says cut funding for the youngest and you'll pay the price later.

New pro-business political action committee enters city commission race, fueled by $5,000 donation

Polarization is not helping Lawrence. Some of the PACs candidates might be people who do want what's best for Lawrence and not only what the developers want (sometimes they coincide, sometimes they don't). But now those 3 candidates are labeled and so some people are going to avoid voting for them just because they think they are going to be all about helping the big developers. It's kind of a shame, but the label makes me wonder if they can be trusted.

Capitol Report: School finance; Democratic gubernatorial candidate; why Francisco voted for drug testing

I agree with and support Marci's vote on this issue, and I'm a Marci supporter already.

Kansas City man arrested Sunday morning in Lawrence on gun charge

I could care less if assault weapons are banned and in no way do I believe anyone is going to take away all our guns. It's a huge difference.

Kansas City man arrested Sunday morning in Lawrence on gun charge

Every time someone points out things like "you mean laws banning guns don't stop people from using them?" Tell them that laws banning murder, burglary and child molestation don't always prevent those crimes either but I don't propose we do away with them.

Legislature facing tough tax choices in 2013

I'm in the middle. Spending cuts are needed, but NOT when it comes to early childhood development and education. And not when it comes to Planned Parenthood. What will happen is that you will gradually produce more and more poor and needy and we'll need more police, more jails. It's a cycle that will go on. The rich will be safe behind their high security walls, but crime rates will soar against the lower and middle class. We need more people in the middle. If the rich get richer, I don't believe it will just magically trickle down. So I hope people who only want the rich to get richer so it trickles down, get voted out. But we also need sensible spending that doesn't reward people for not working. It's sad that our legislature can't find a compromise and that no one seems to vote in primary elections anymore. When our schoolchildren lose and crime goes through the roof, then maybe people will come out and vote and pay attention.

I agree on the compliments to Chad. Chad's column is the first thing I read every time. His writing style, content and segues are great! Keep it up, Chad!

Letter: Misbehaving

Hopefully more research and thought goes into your decision-making process, but that is very sad that people would behave in that way. I don't support Jenkins because I would prefer representatives who have their own original thoughts and who I feel represent me, instead of towing the party line no matter what. I'm embarrassed that those people were so ill-mannered though at the event.
