FSHS boys fall short against Olathe East

Its not the coaches job to get his team "fired up". Motivation has to be intrinsic. If motivation is only external it wont last. For those who have never played or coached the idea of a coach inspiring his team every time out is not realistic. There is only so much emotion in a season and players have to be the ones who motivate themselves regularly.

Speaking in Osawatomie, Obama sees 'make or break' time for middle class

In a system of checks and balances the President is neither responsible for all the good or all the bad things that happen in our country. The role of Congress and compromise play a role in all decisions. Thus both sides of the aisle need to stop pointing the figure at each other and start doing the work that needs to be done.

Obama's speech today was crazy. He was asking the mega rich to pay more to help those who do the work making them rich. Crazy radical!

I checked around and the center ref was Corey Kramer. He teaches at LHS.

City showdown ends in scoreless, double-OT tie

High school does not play by FIFA rules. Stronger teams in HS sub frequently and it gives them an advantage over teams with less depth. St Thomas Aquinas actually subs 8 players at a time and they generally are the best team in the state year end and year out.

I wasnt there but cant figure out who the center was. The guys who work centers from Lawrence are LaPoint and Corey ________? Neither teaches at Free State. Perhaps somebody new. I know corey teaches math at LHS.

Anyone know his name?

Free State soccer plays to 0-0 draw

Free State has tied OE before. From 1999-2009 Free State had winning records in 8 of those seasons (with double digit wins in 6 seasons). In that same period they won 3 regional championships and finished second in 6A in 2009 with a 16-4-1 record. Free state has had a good boys program in the past with a track record of a "strong, winning program". Coach Barah is a good coach and will continue to do a good job. My point is only that the boys program was in great shape when he took over.

LHS on the other hand has not been above .500 for a very long time, but they are playing tough competitive soccer right now and appear to be moving up.

Free State soccer plays to 0-0 draw

"Going to elite status"? Didnt Free State play in the state Championship game two years ago? Seems like it might have been there before.

Injury overshadows Lions' 35-13 win

Coach Wedd is a tough hard nose guy who is a disciplinarian that bleeds Lawrence High School. A lot of people on this board criticize him for a lot of different reasons. He pushes kids to be their best and stands by them in tough times (on and off the field). Many will disagree with his methods or his tactics, but from my perspective I would welcome the opportunity for him to coach my sons. Nice article.
