Thing is though Jack it is not a newspaper, a newspaper you would have to pay for. As stated above it is a webpage and it's free to view (for now).

Fritzel entity, not KU, will own stadiums and facilities at proposed Rock Chalk sports complex
Exactly right there toe! the guy is in business to make money but all these people complaining would still complain no matter who the developer is, after all to a lot of people on this board anyone that has a profitable development business is scum and cant be trusted.

Large apartment complex surrounded by new nine-hole golf course proposed for northwest Lawrence
Who in their right mind would want to try and do something in the inner city around here? You get the hysteric resource wackos going and nothing will get done forever, if that soon.

Put together a business plan then get a loan and do it. If you want it and think it will be a success why wait for someone else?

United Way about $900,000 short of goal; leaders to extend donation timeframe
If you are going to play the blame game you need to go all the way and name everything.
County, School district, state, big oil, utilities, fed govt, etc etc etc
Maybe even people are tired of giving to the United Way, personall I'd rather people give straight to the organization of their choosing and do away with the middle man and overhead to distribute the funds.

Nuclear threat
Next time I "see our missle" I'm going to think back to my childhood and remember going to that park with my brothers, cousins and grandparents. I'll think about climbing on the plane that used to be there and pretending to blow away the commies. Or lainching that missle to destroy some target hundreds if not thousands of miles away.
Thanks Joe for bringing back such wonderful memories, those were the days.

City supports $12 million in incentives for Ninth, New Hampshire project
"It's bad enough that the city just let Compton take over half of the downtown parking garage."
Sorry Jack but that's not right, there isn't any parking in the existing New Hampshire St garage reseved for the 901 building or tenants. Parking is first come first served. IIRC the city didn't give him cut rate on parking passes either.
You also complain about a private parking garage that you can't use, rent a room if you want to use it, pretty simple. If they didn't build a private garage you be right here complaining that their patrons are parking in the existing garage.

Compton and Treanor are business men doing exactly what they have every legal right to do. The TIF laws are on the books, they would be stupid not to try and get the best deal possible for themselves and future tenants.
