City Commission to consider giving Lawrence's city manager $10,000 raise

He may not have received an "official" raise since 2007 but according to the open records link Dave posted he must have at the least received some type of benefit increase as it shows his total package in 2009 as $152,343.00 with over a $11,000.00 increase over the last 4 years with 2012 showing $163,554.00

I'd like to see a total compensation breakdown, salary, car allowance etc.

City agrees to seek consultant to look at high-speed broadband options

"Though some competition would be nice"

You got that right, also some competition in the cable tv market would be nice too.

"At some point it takes personal responsibility because police can't and don't enforce every law"

City agrees to close portion of 15th/Bob Billings Parkway for summer of 2013, despite objections

Shut it down and rebuild it. If you live in the area or drive through it daily figure out (now) the best alternate route that works for you. People act like driving an extra 5/10 minutes or 2/3 miles using an alternate route will ruin their lives. Besides they are doing the intersection in the summer when most students are gone which means less traffic.

Why should the city do advertising for the businesses in the area? They know it's coming so they can be proactive and start informing their existing customers now.

Temporary closure of 15th/Bob Billings Parkway this summer upsets neighbors; city proposes new detour in hopes of alleviating concerns

Completely agree JHawk, Lawrence has a nimby attitude when it comes to public improvements.

"Krueger also contends the city didn’t do enough to notify residents west of Iowa Street about the project." Heck I dont even live within 3 miles of this intersection and I knew about the detour/project.

Letter: Near insanity

I think we should ban people, afterall without people to pick up that inanimate object (gun) it would be perfectly safe.

Letter: Gun access

As I said above, Makes no difference what people want to outlaw or ban, fact is that when you have a mentally unstable individual who wants to cause harm they will find a way to do it.

Letter: Gun access

I beg to differ there friendly, the gun itself will not cause "death, pain, or suffering" it is when someone picks it up and uses it that causes the death, pain and suffering. As long as a gun sits in the corner and nobody touches it it will not cause harm. Makes no difference what people want to outlaw or ban, fact is that when you have a mentally unstable individual who wants to cause harm they will find a way to do it.
