Nomadic churches searching for permanent home
I'm sorry former_kansan, I'm concerned how reductive you're making our situation, especially since we've had hundreds of volunteers and members who took extreme care of that entire facility our first two years of existence! We worked closely with the USD and school staff, particularly the principal at South who would vouch for us in a heartbeat, to ensure the care and proper use of South.
For two years, we made it our duty to leave that auditorium, lobby, and classrooms cleaner than when we found them. We literally taped off every location of every desk in certain classrooms so some teachers wouldn't have any guess work.
No rental situation is perfect and there are going to be bumps and bruises along the way. But we always made sure if there was anything we needed to address because of our usage, we'd be the first on the scene to make it right. But our volunteers are awesome and there was rarely any incident of note. When there was, in particular a stage set mishap during one of the theater seasons, we were ready to make it right as immediately as possible!
Our church gave thousands of dollars to the needy kids fund at South. Our volunteers and members are passionate about bettering our community, including South Middle School who gave us our first meeting place! Our staff literally spoke with the fire department about the classroom arrangements - I'm not sure what else to say about that in particular.
If you have any questions for the sake of clarity, please don't hesitate to message me. Thanks!
