Moisture comes in time for some trees, too late for others

I bought a Honey Locust for my front yard 3 years ago. I watered every week last Summer using a root feeder, fertilizing in Spring and Fall. So far there are little green leaves on every branch, so I think it's gonna make it.

What is your favorite poem?

Nothing Gold can stay

Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
-Robert Frost

What is your favorite old or historic building in Lawrence?

Dyche Hall is always interesting to look at when I pass it: Gargoyles, inscriptions, architectural details near the top of the building as well as the shape of the entrance.
I've always wanted to see the inside of the 3 story Italian villa style home on Tennessee, I think it maybe in about the 1700 block. It looks beautiful.

Sorry, Shockers: Cards people’s choice, thanks to Ware

I could have sworn I heard Greg Gumbel call WSU the"Wichita Stalkers (or "Stockers"?) at one point! Anyway, Wichita State had a great season and did the state of Kansas proud. Congratulations!

KU student organizing marrow donor drive in honor of husband with lymphoma

Having had cancer in the past excludes me from registering as a bone marrow donor, but best of luck to you Jonathan. I hope you find a match soon and everything goes well for you,

Woman flown to KU Hospital after being struck by vehicle

Pedestrians need to cross at an approved crosswalk, especially at 1am. I wasn't sure if she did from the article. I saw a woman cross the street a few yards south of 23rd and Iowa heading toward the motel carrying a toddler on one hip, talking on her cell phone, running in flip flops. This was about 7am on a weekday. She's very lucky she didn't get hit.
I would agree though, there is a mentality among KU students (or just young people in general) that they have the right of way. Drive across campus and students step out in front of cars. Walk across campus and young drivers drive thru cross walks with pedestrians present. WATCH WHAT YOU ARE DOING! Life can change in an instant. I hope the young woman will be ok.
