City commissioner wants review of city's storm shelter policies in wake of Oklahoma tornado

It is stupid that slab homes are not required to have a storm closet in the house. Boog was correct.

Opinion: Why gay role models matter

Is it not obvious without evidence. The single purpose for two people to get together is the survival of the species. Darwinism pure and simple. I thought that is what we believe in in this town.

That is not to say that Gay people should be treated any different than anyone else. In fact this article does just that the title should be "Why Role Models Matter"

How do private schools keep producing a superior product with lower pay and smaller budgets?

Boeing left as a result of a bad business climate as far as business taxes, etc. I was at a meeting years ago Alan Mulally when he was with Boeing at that time he said if Kansas did not change the way it handles incentives and taxes Boeing would have to think hard about staying...guess what? We did not change.

True Value is a chain just like Pizza Hut. If you disagree with that, then the Dobsky's are just small business owners with a local burger joint. It just happens to be called McDonalds.

Are the proposed cuts actual cuts or cuts to increases?

I would love to hear some whistle blowers start writing about waste in Higher education.

Gas prices approach record highs

The "newest" refinery in the United States began operating in 2008 in Douglas, Wyoming. However, the newest significant (or sophisticated) refinery began operating in 1977 in Garyville, Louisiana.

Capacity has also been added to existing refineries through upgrades or new construction. The most recent examples include:

In 1998, Orion Refinery massively upgraded and reopened a refinery in Norco, Louisiana, which was a small, simple refinery that originally opened in 1967. (It is now owned by Valero.)
Valero opened a "new" and very sophisticated refinery in 1983 in Corpus Christi, Texas, on the site of a simple refinery that originally opened in 1975.
