Day 2: From the Emerald Triangle to the Sunflower State
Did we learn nothing from Prohibition?
A waste of money to prosecute, a waste of potential sales tax revenue.

Lawrence cyclist seriously injured in collision with vehicle
Do you really think bikes should be on sidewalk/multi-use paths? Car drivers don't see the cyclists as well as when they are on the road. Pedestrians, some with strollers, aren't safe with cyclists cruising by at 15 or more miles per hour. Are pedestrians allowed to walk side by side? What about double wide strollers?
I like wide roads with wide shoulders with bike lanes or at least wide lanes with wide shoulders.

U.S. Attorney General Holder tells Brownback new gun law is unconstitutional
In such a "Taker" state as Kansas is, do we really want to upset the Feds?

Rape survivor works to change law, abolish the statute of limitations in rape cases
Well, wouldn't it be nice if our Governor can sign this.
FYI When Kansas first became a state, it was Liberal. Read the book What's The Matter With Kansas, or watch the documentary with the same title. It's available on Netflix.

Measure banning "wrongful birth" claims approved by Kansas Senate
Good luck in your attempts to legislate morality.

Measure banning "wrongful birth" claims approved by Kansas Senate
When did every member of the State Senate become an MD?
So it's small, limited government except when it comes to Women's Health. What's next, maybe not letting doctors tell patients that they have cancer, or AIDS? It would help keep costs down.
Wake up Kansas! Just about the last place we need government "butting in" is in-between you and your doctor.

Home brewers hope to make their hobby legal
Sounds like a simple, straight forward bill as it is. The representative, House Majority Leader Rep. Arlen Siegfreid, R-Olathe, doesn't sound very reasonable. Looks like deeper pockets wins again. The Kansas Beer Wholesalers Association could no doubt contribute more to an election fund than the Home Brewers. Case closed.
Too bad our elected officials couldn't just do the reasonable, logical thing.

KDOT seeks input from bicyclists to update state plan
Most of Lawrence is not very good for bicyclists. It's scary to ride around this town. Highways without a shoulder, others with huge shoulders but covered with debris (broken glass and gravel) and driver "wake-up" bumps between the car lanes and the shoulder. This gives the bike rider the thrill of riding to the right of the bumps, in the debris, then back over the bumps to the edge of the car lane. Fun stuff! I welcome the chance to provide some input to KDOT.

County offers dust treatment for residents on gravel roads
I'm thinking spraying water, like at the 7th inning stretch. No guarantee, but probably works as well as the chemicals.
I wonder what the chemicals are. Hmmm...
