Bicyclist injured in accident

Sunset tonight is at 7:36 and 1100 Road runs east/west. I'm wondering if the sun setting, vision, might have been involved in the accident.
It would be nice if we could include a decent shoulder on more of the roads around here, both within Lawrence and the surrounding area. See Highway 40/6th Street west of Highway 10, a true Death Ride.

Editorial: Key interchange

Yea! For those of us that live west of Lawrence, to not have to go north to dangerously narrow Hwy 40 or south to Clinton Parkway will be great! Can't wait.
If someone wants to pave a couple of our "lovely" gravel roads that would be cool too. Even a chip and seal surface would be fantastic.

Willing to pitch in ($).

KU’s Jake Heaps out to prove he can be a top QB

If KU can just drive the ball down field and score some points; it would be soooo much better than the past couple of years. The key is the Offensive Line. They have to be able to pass block or we can't pass. They have to be able to run block or we can't run. I don't think Heaps is real mobile, therefore the team will be no better than their O Line.
Go KU!

One person killed in accident on South Lawrence Trafficway

I certainly agree that a traffic way should NOT have intersections. Maybe, if enough of us get together, we could get a bicycle/pedestrian overpass built here.

Kansas concealed carry permits set record in 2012

Let me see if I have this correct. The more people there are, that are carrying guns, the safer we all are. RIGHT. Would that work for countries and Nukes?

Kansas House Speaker Merrick blasts regents, KU over funding, salary issues

No complaint from Mr. Speaker if private funds help pay for college coaches, but if the same thing is done in academia it is somehow corrupt. Nothing to do with the Regents and University Presidents being critical of your budget. Sure.
What do you bet that Mr. Merrick is a member of ALEC?

Day 2: From the Emerald Triangle to the Sunflower State

Did we learn nothing from Prohibition?
A waste of money to prosecute, a waste of potential sales tax revenue.

Lawrence cyclist seriously injured in collision with vehicle

Do you really think bikes should be on sidewalk/multi-use paths? Car drivers don't see the cyclists as well as when they are on the road. Pedestrians, some with strollers, aren't safe with cyclists cruising by at 15 or more miles per hour. Are pedestrians allowed to walk side by side? What about double wide strollers?
I like wide roads with wide shoulders with bike lanes or at least wide lanes with wide shoulders.

U.S. Attorney General Holder tells Brownback new gun law is unconstitutional

In such a "Taker" state as Kansas is, do we really want to upset the Feds?
