Second-degree murder charge brought in Trayvon Martin case

I've not read all the comments here... far too many for me to hack through...

but... through all of this... I've not once heard anyone mention MARTIN's right to stand HIS ground... if in fact he did...
not by any media source...

he was being followed and likely and rightly so, he felt threatened...

and if it's a matter of two guys standing their ground and it's legal for the one to shoot and kill the other... welcome to frontier justice...
and sure enough... we all should start carrying...

what if Martin had been armed and he had shot and killed Zimmerman?

ha... indeed... calming…
I've heard that terminology before...

ask a bike rider how calm they feel when they're approaching one of these islands with a fast moving vehicle coming up on them from behind...

yikes...

tear the islands out...

tear them out now...

what makes this situation worse are those ridiculous, hideous islands in the middle of the road... with absolutely no yellow curbs or any other identifying features as to how close on either side of them that a car can be parked...

maybe there's a city law out there on how close people can park to them but I've been down Barker a few times when it was pretty damn tight getting past a parked car and then getting back on the right side of the island...

I hate the islands... they're a pain in the ass and with their ugly yellow signs they take away from the beauty of Barker Avenue’s tree lined streets...
The only use for the ugly yellow signs is to warm people of the stupid island…

and from my observation they haven’t slow traffic down on Barker… people are still doing 40 mph on a regular basis…

tear out the islands…

Final report from school consolidation group doesn’t include closings

yeah... right... none of this was going on before Obama was in office...

I agree about no bond... most of us on the east side are fed up with paying more and more so that all those west side kids can have brand new schools...

How about we quit building new schools... and bus kids into the older schools...

Final report from school consolidation group doesn’t include closings

I suppose they could even out the class sizes by bussing some of those Sunflower kids to the east side schools...

As I've mentioned before... they closed down our east side neighborhood school years ago... and most everybody was fine with that... other than us, of course... and our kids...

So… let's do it... one big school out by the lake...

“Lawrence Lakeside Liberty Elementary”

and fire up the busses…

School board cooling on consolidation plan

They closed our neighbor school down years ago... Nobody seemed to care beyond the people in our neighbor... Now other folks are all fired up with concerns about their schools being closed down... I know what those concerns feel like... and I know what it feels like to not have people who's schools aren't threatened care much about it...

Maybe... eventually... there will be just one huge elementary school out be the lake...
They’ll call it “Lawrence Lakeside Liberty Elementary”… and everyone’s kids will be bussed…

Kobach seeks to move up plans for citizenship proof to June 15

In your sarcasm you end up making an excellent point... Having twice as many police as we need does go along with requiring citizens to carry "papers"... Both are prime examples of typical tactics used by tyrannical governments to better control the citizenry...

Are you for taking away peoples' guns, as well?

War profits

Welcome to the 21st century... Sadly, an awful lot like the 20th century... Still big money to be made in the killing industry...
