'Swept under the rug:' How a Lawrence man - an educator and a Boy Scout volunteer - was able to sexually abuse boys for decades

I don't think she drowned, I believe it was dive related like an air embolism. You can get these several ways but most common is ascending too rapidly.

Her obit says she passed away in Miami so I think it happened on a dive trip, not in MO.

'Swept under the rug:' How a Lawrence man - an educator and a Boy Scout volunteer - was able to sexually abuse boys for decades

I received my advance open water & rescue diver training from Mask Snorkel Fin during the mid 90s and will have to agree that something was definitely 'off' about Jim Jackson. My primary contact was with Chad, his son, and I will admit at times I could definitely sense 'tension' between Jim and Chad (especially on trips to Stockton). Then again, stress between father and son can be chalked up to family dynamics but I always had a very strange feeling about Jim. But, Karen's presence always was enough for me to chalk it up to my imagination.

My point is that many people enabled this predator for way too long. He has a very long string of victims and I hope that the people who turned their head for YEARS, are ultimately judged for their actions. I believe they will but PARENTS... When it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, chances are... you should trust your GUT... These bottom-feeders know how to hide in plain sight. My son was too young to get certified when Mask Snorkel Fin was operating but I would have NEVER left him with Jim Jackson alone. He WAS/IS that creepy...

Lastly, a pox on the Boy Scout house... They could have stopped this LONG ago. Pathetic and sad...

Former wife of ex-KU official seeks judgment

Translation: Just because I declare ignorance means I get to keep all the goods? ROFL... Really? Does Mrs. Madoff get to keep everything? YOU WISH...

If it was gotten illegally, it should be surrendered. PERIOD.

Next you'll be telling me it's OK for some rich jerk to ADOPT his girlfriend so he can't lose his wealth in a judgment... PUHLEEZ...

Kansas claims epic win in Border War finale

I think Haith is getting way too much credit. This team was built by Mike Anderson. It's like a couple of years ago when Self built the team that took Weber to the finals. Has Weber been back? Not even close...

MU had better enjoy this season because the real proof in Haith's ability will be when his first recruits become juniors and seniors. They are moving to a far inferior bball league though so maybe they'll be competitive. They really weren't competitive in the Big 12. I can't wait for a couple of years when MU starts telling us they left the Big 12 for bball when the fball team falls flat.... I mean, if they could never win the Big 12 in fball, why would they think they could win the SEC??!! LOL! Wow... Some mighty powerful moonshine they must be getting...

KU's Self not fretting over Missouri's decision to leave Big 12 for SEC

We traded our scary hillbillies for some fun ones.

Kind of like trading the hillbillies from Deliverance for the Beverly Hillbillies.

HUGE improvement!! Welcome WVU!!!

Big 12 lists 2012 teams; Missouri not among them

Amen to many of the sentiments here.

MU thinks they are going to a better football conference and somehow being 'picked' somehow makes them superior. LOL! They are the equivalent of what Chase Daniels 'picks' and when they realize how miserable they are in a few years when they don't have even the 'possibility' of beating their superiors to the west, the cries from the hillbilly horde will be PRICELESS!

After finishing a couple of years in the cellar of the SEC east, Pinky will be gone and the 'dark ages' will begin for MU. They will be uncompetitive and completely IRRELEVANT. They'll have no rivalries and be totally lost because the SEC cares NOTHING about MU. LOL! But they were picked! They will always have that!! LOL!

I think WVU is a HUGE improvement. They actually have a competitive team in BOTH sports. We are also trading classless hillbillies for ones that have some. It's like trading the hillbillies from Deliverance for the Beverly Hillbillies. Winning!!

Lastly.... MU STARTED all of the instability with the Big 12 when they begged the Big 10 only to have them left at the altar for NU. They cry and moan that this all to escape UT but they are only trading Texas for Alabama as new masters. Congratulations. You got what you begged and probably paid for. Bad luck to you in the SEC. I don't think you'll need it but at least now we shouldn't have to deal with you besides your asinine delusional ramblings on chatboards.

Exit strategy: Oklahoma, Texas regents give presidents authority to leave Big 12

OU is basically saying it doesn't want to be in a conference as long as UT basically gets everything they wanted. Nebraska said it last year and we did nothing but gave them MORE of what they wanted. Why would anyone want to stick in a conference that treats UT like the king of the conference?

But that would require UT to swallow a little of their bravado/ego and that isn't happening.... I say the Big 12 KICKS UT out and keeps all the rest of the schools. Add BYU and split all the money EVENLY. NO ONE wants to live in an unequal situation... We have dignity, unlike UT.

Tim Tebow just isn’t ready for prime time

Can you say Jamarcus Russell? LOL!

But, the Chiefs have had their horrible picks too... I can say Todd Blackledge even though it pains me to do so....

NBA riches await Josh Selby

Translation:

Selby's lack of defense got us into a huge hole that was just too deep to climb out of.

I've seen a lot of college games and I know that when one team struggles the whole game to close the gap, rarely do they pull it off. Too much is exerted. Also, VCU couldn't miss and KU couldn't throw it into the ocean while standing on the beach. LOTS of factors contributed to that loss.

I'm not going to blame Selby (even though I think some blame is warranted) but more on Self. Why is Self playing a freshman who can't play defense and is going to be one-and-done? Put him in to try to provide a spark but don't keep him in there on some pipe dream that he's coming back. Selby has never given any indications that he was anything more than a conceited streetball player using KU as a stepping stone to the NBA. Selby is no Derrick Rose. I think some one-and-dones are worth it but Selby? No way....

Wind chill advisory expires; Temperatures frigid through Friday

Keep repeating that mantra, Ron. Maybe you'll convince yourself or the other snow-bound eskimos. Being snowbound is only natural for bears or trolls.

I have to hit the beach. Nice swells this time of year. Aloha.
