Free State football vs. Shawnee Mission West

Twenty-three (23) pictures in this gallery.....seriously??? There were only five (5) pictures in the Lawrence High gallery for Homecoming. It's been known for several years that LJW favors Free State, but I think it's reached beyond the point of ridiculous.

Senate advances bill giving private health clubs property tax break

Why is there so much corruption at every level of government? Why do business owners get to propose and vote on legislation that will 'exempt' their for-profit business from paying taxes? You know who will make up the tax dollars....the homeowners and working class individuals, that's who!

Library of the future: Despite Digital Age, expanded facility still likely to be utilized

Amen to that....and I know that MANY, MANY people are in the same boat here. Now is NOT the time for this tax increase.

Multi-vehicle accident backs up Turnpike traffic for miles near Lawrence

This whole situation was caused by a minivan that had run out of gas on the turnpike bridge. Thank God that no one was hurt -- we are so thankful for that.

Reality check for Raiders

Maybe it's LJWorld and 6News that need a Reality Check. The Legion baseball program is no longer worthy of your time and efforts in covering them. At one time, the Legion baseball program did Lawrence proud, but those days are gone. If the one Legion team left standing doesn't even hold tryouts to select the best players, why are you even reporting on this team?

Lions lucky, talented

bminnis - I couldn't have said it any better myself! To see the joy and happiness on the faces of these boys and their coaches, and to just sit back and watch them hug and congratulate each other after the Championship win was a wonderful experience. It was a total team effort -- everyone contribued, and everyone celebrated! I was also awed by the crowd of supporters, especially the LHS students who showed up in droves to support this team! I can't wait until next fall when all of these boys come back and we raise the 2009 State Baseball Championship banner at LHS!

Lawrence High run-rules Blue Valley, 17-0 in 3 innings, to win first-round game

WOW - talk about making a statement! That was the most AWESOME game by the Lions this year. Albert -- you are 'the man'! Not only that, I think every single Lion had a hit. Keep it up, Lions. Let's make OUR ROAR louder than the Goddard Lions'!!!

Lions top Firebirds, 2-1, in regional final; LHS headed back to state

WOW!! What a great day for the Lions. They quite simply refused to lose. Congratulations to the Lions, especially to the Seniors who can now continue their high school season just a little bit longer. Go Lions!!

Lions no-hit, but still win

Maybe the Lions would be more motivated and play more like a TEAM if the coaching staff TREATED them more like a TEAM, instead of openly displaying their hero-worship of one or two players.
