Put 27th street in there, it got neglected too, plenty of disabled and lower income in that area...

Snow storm hits Lawrence

One of the reasons I left Lawrence is because of the situation that you b-e-a-u-tifully describe and because of the kind of reaction that you received (see the comment right after yours) This isn't Kansas anymore DrQuack. This is Lawrence and you better get on that bandwagon right now. The one that visits the Wizard in downtown L'emerald City of Lawrence.
Who. Has. Lived. Here. A, Very. Long. Time.

"Crews were planning to continue plowing operations through Saturday, the release said." That's big of them, because it will still probably leave all the cul-de-sacs undone.

Snow coming down hard, area roads snowpacked

I don't think Lawrence did a very good job of snow removal, as usual. I was sorry to see that people who live off of 27th and ON 27th were treated to NO snow removal the whole day, as I expected. . I moved out of Lawrence for the attitude that I encountered when I complained about the lack of snow removal, but sadly, I work there now. In 2010, my cul-de-sac was done like FOUR days after the snow fell. And this was still snow that blocked people from leaving the cul-de-sac, big snow, a lot of it. And I was told I had to clear sidewalks in two.
Lawrence Journal World DID miss a very large story with that car on fire, it isn't even under your "fire crimes and court" section, why is that?

Unusually shiny donation in Salvation Army kettle could ‘help a lot of families’

No, you're not, it's possible. But also , some people might think they're giving something worth a lot, they haven't tried to really sell it for cash. I know someone who tried to sell a 3.2 carat in the 80's to a major jeweler in KC, a personal friend of theirs, and the markdown was unbelievable for what that size was selling for on retail. They could get about 1/3 of what the retail price was listing. No, they didn't sell it.

Lawrence City Commission approves gender identity ordinance

I don't know about that, I work in people's houses and get to see a lot of TV, I saw a cable show about problem children today... There is an all-female couple in California raising an adopted child who is 4. They got "him" 2 yrs ago, and his name was Tommy. Now he is apparently calling himself "Tammy" and has decided he is a girl.

Given that may be the case, is it any reason to give a possible predator protected access? See, I wonder if you really crunched the numbers, if you might find that more men are involved in this discussion (overall and on both sides) Testosterone gives a "special" type of edge to the sexual act. It's supposed too, and this (overall) ensures the propogation of the species. However it can also present as a deviant urge in an individual. People are probably more often (by a huge percent, i would imagine) violated in a sexual manner (for reasons of anger, power or whatever) by MEN. So why let them into a new arena with guaranteed absence of generally more vulnerable groups??? See, women don't have the "edge" either with hormones (that really can get them furious enough to invent hand-to-hand combat---and spare me your Greek Amazon examples) or with physical endowment. I don't like this, and I have to use public restrooms a LOT, because of surgery, etc...So I will just suck it up, but I don't like it.

Actually, I looked into it, and you can go back and change your birth certificate to whatever you perceive yourself as being, even without surgery (in Kansas). Is that "educated and informed" enough for you Mensa candidates out there?
