Bullwinkles bar gets new owners, complete renovation

That place was an eyesore, so I'm glad they're remodeling it.

Teller's restaurant to change name and concept to Merchants Pub & Plate

I'm excited for the change-up. For craft beer lovers, this is something Lawrence has been missing. Yeah there are plenty of place with 5-10 taps and a ton of bottles, but 30 taps is a big leap forward. Hopefully they have a good bar area and focus on keeping those taps rotating with interesting beers. And of course I hope they do a nice job with the food too!

Local auto mechanic completes his crusade to build Batmobile

Nice work, Rich! So cool that you set out to build a Batmobile and you did it! And it looks great!

Rich, by the way, is a fabulous mechanic. I can't recommend him enough. Been taking our cars to him for almost a decade now.

Plans filed for restaurant/retail on South Iowa site once proposed for Olive Garden

I wish they'd bring back Mazzios! Granted, I haven't eaten there since I was a kid, but I sure loved it growing up.

Popular breakfast restaurant Milton's returning to downtown in space currently occupied by Loopy's

I always enjoyed Milton's and am glad to see it return. I am worried about the seating though. It was a problem before in the larger space.

La Parrilla set to move into former Tapas building on Massachusetts Street

I also like the remodel. I didn't find the seating any more cramped, and noise has never been an issue.

Mexican restaurant Tapas closes as it loses lease on downtown building; Mexquisito expands into Eudora

Mexquisito is great! Yeah it's pricier than El Mez or Cielito, but it also offers higher quality dishes that aren't found on regular Tex-Mex menus.

TownTalk: Vermont Street BBQ deal falls apart; The Orient and Oh Boy! Chicken expanding; Lawrence home sales up for fifth month in a row

Angler's had been in the death throes for a while now, so I'm not surprised. But I am sad to see a place that was very craft beer friendly go the wayside.

Driver in head-on crash had prior DUIs

What an a-hole. I hope this guy gets locked up for a long time.
