Kansas Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control scrutinizes alcoholic energy drink Four Loko, but no ban yet

Agreed! Heart Disease is the most prevalent disease in the US. I don't have the figures in front of me but I think it's around 400k die each year from heart disease. Another 400k from cigarettes, and another 100k from alcohol. Profiting off of peoples death is a government enterprise with respect to taxes.....oh yea and there is an actual death tax too.

People want to increase tax dollars for social services which in one aspect is noble. But the government is just as irresponsible with spending tax dollars as the large banks were investing your savings. At least the banks had greed as a motivator.....the government is just incompetent.

$87,000 grant could help restore Lawrence’s train depot

Screw the Depot. You could keep 2 teachers employed for a year! This is the kind of misapplied funding that prevents Lawrence from strengthening it's education system. If it's not appropriated for education......re-appropriate it.

Federal Reserve leader Thomas Hoenig warns of future economic downturn

What I don't get is how the Fed can make rate decisions that effect every single loan and line of credit in the US and none of the board members including the chair are elected officials. We need to stop the quasi governmental status and either make it a representative entity or a private company completely.

How would you grade Lew Perkins' tenure at KU Athletics?

Football: Incomplete (probably will convert to an "F" over time) ??

You do realize the monumental task he had getting us in the Orange Bowl right? That was nothing short of a miracle.

He didn't hire Bill or Mangino but he sure as hell provided them with money to help make them more successful.
