Regulations adopted to implement higher admission standards at KU in 2016

I totally agree with you.

Also, why does our society automatically equate a 2.0 with lack of intelligence? Just because you have a 3.0 is no indication of success. The 2.0 could have learning disabilities or maybe they are working full time and going to school.

Edison had suffered through many failures with his inventions until he achieved success. Maybe he was actually a 2.0 and someone with more intelligence should have taken on his projects.

Saying you can only go to certain school because you have a 2.0 is unfair. It is like not allowing minorities into restaurants because they make their business look bad.

I'm totally behind those who have to put more effort into things they are generally the ones with more passion.

A 3.0 is no indication of character.

Besides the higher GPA bringing in your "above average student" it is also necessary to have above average faculty and I don't think KU ranks in the top ten there.

Will this be then in 2016 "above average students" meets just "average" faculty.

As I recall George Bush was pretty average and he was president,

You can have your 3.0 GPA but that doesn't make you better than anyone else.

Well if above average students include those from the fraternity that abuses turkeys than I pity KU.

Excuse me. "You're". I guess I should have went to Washburn I would have learned to spell correctly.

Lets go to a couple of basketball players and see if they can spell intelligence.

Sorry I don't agree. I worked hard for my degree but was not even close to a 3.0. I am proud I graduated from KU. School will always be difficult for me and I think this just says if your average your not good enough to go to KU.

If you want out of state students they better offer a lot of scholarships or attract rich kids because the tuition rates are ungodly.

This also better apply 100% to student athletics.

Gay marriage vote in New York may have national impact

The people happiest about this are the lawyers in New York. I'm sure there is dollar signs in their eyes with the possiblity of all these new divorce cases in the future.

Natural Grocers to open in Lawrence on 23rd Street and Naismith Drive

I live in a town with a NG and I like it alot. All we had before were the average health food stores including their high prices.
NG do have organic fruits and vegetables but not a big selection and the prices are high on these items like everywhere else.
They do have a large variety of supplements and especially soaps, shampoos etc. Also, the prices on alot of these things are $2 and $3 cheaper than the health food stores.
It's more like a glorified health food store than anything and they do have good sales. If your into health food products they can save you some money.

Lawrence district's first black teacher shares experiences of racism with elementary students

Prejudice goes way beyond skin color. Whites have treated other whites like slime. Catholics have been harrassed and even killed for their beliefs and different white ethnic groups have treated each other horribly. Whites are also very bad at judging other whites by their appearance. You also can be white, poor and physically or mentally handicapped and suffer the same treatment as some minorities have.
And even in this day and age whites get away with treating other less fortunate whites terribly.

Brownback cool to idea of removing in-state college tuition option for children of illegal immigrants

Well, my son shouldn't have to pay out of state then. He works and goes to school and pays Kansas taxes while he lives there. He also has relatives that live in Kansas that pay Kansas taxes. He works as hard as any illegal.
I'm sure though the Governor loves all that money he is getting from my out of state tuition to change it.

Well, I grew up in Topeka and maybe my neighborhood was an exception but I never experienced any hint of racism.
The neighborhood I grew up in was integrated in the 50's . We sat on each others porches, we were in each others houses. I feel very fortunate to not have experienced the hate some people have.
