Walking while drunk can be dangerous on New Year's

My manager saw me drinking backstage and he said "Mitch, don't use liquor as a crutch." I can't use liquor as a crutch, because a crutch helps me walk. Liquor severely 'f's' up the way I walk. It ain't like a crutch, it's like a step I didn't see." Mitch Hedberg knew about the dangers of drinking and walking...

Former KU student sentenced to probation in sexual assault case

The only "impetus to tow the line" is violation means spending the rest of the sentence in jail. Probation is great as it allows a person to attempt to remain in society, and pay for themselves, instead of dumping them into an over-crowded, taxpayer funded hole. And before anyone jumps on the "they'll just re-offend" bandwagon, if they do commit another crime or violate the terms of their probation then they'll be on the hook for the new crime plus jail time for the old.

Futility records in reach for KU football defense

Sports at this level have no place for nice losers. Think if this was basketball season. The first time Bill Self has a losing season he'd be done. There are people who question his ability to coach when we don't get very far in post season. So why should the standard be any different in football? Why should we continue to give a coach a chance when the only improvement the team is showing is its ability to handle humiliation?

At Kansas senators' request, committee will not consider Steve Six's nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals

Those Cuss-Cussed, Cussing Sons-a-Cussing Cussbags.

Too mad for rational thought at this time. To block without a reason is the most cowardly action taken by these senators. It truly amazes me the steps our representatives have taken. I am a registered Republican and I am mortified by their actions. (To be clear, I did not vote for Moran but I did vote for Roberts. I also voted for Six as AG.)

Steve Six is the *BEST* candidate for the job. He was the best candidate for the AG position too. This is party politics at it's worst. Time to start writing/calling our reps.

Corrected Lawrence Public Library Rendering

+1. Although, I think you left too many non-homeless in this picture. :)

Attorney General Schmidt defends hiring Foulston Siefkin to represent state in Planned Parenthood lawsuit

I would say that Schmidt's trial experience is less than adequate to the job. He is a lawyer in name only and a full time politician. While I doubt that he would do anything overtly illegal, he knows who his masters are and who is footing the bill. This is just an easy way for them to pay homage to those who helped put them in office.

Kansas lawmakers add chemicals in bath salts to state's list of controlled substances

It's amazing that the government clings to the former war on drugs that is now a vanguard action at best. People. will. get. high. Kids WILL experiment with mind-altering things. Remember whippets? Eventually, hopefully, decriminalization will allow my kids to get high the old fashioned way and stop having to resort to snorting bath salts or licking toads.

Town Talk: Cabin development slated for south of Lawrence; city looks at higher-tech trash truck; 10 years of the T

Because another First Managment blight is so much better? Or are you just saying no to developers in general?

Personally I can't wait until these developers get into theme parks. Could you imagine the arms race between Compton and Fritzel on who can build the better roller coaster? Or water park? Or zoo (although Compton has an edge since he's already got zebras)? All are about as reasonable as rural retreat resorts...

Kansas legislator suggests using hunters in helicopters to control illegal immigration, likens immigrants to feral hogs

And now for something completely different... Does this article seem like it's a run-on? Starting with the paragraph "Colloton said..." thereafter it seems like it is repeating the same information. LJW, did you need filler space?

Today I'm editing like hunters in helicopters. What? Too soon?
