Typical cycle of a Lawrence nightclub. Club opens, does well. Drugs and bad clientelle start to move in and scare the people away and finally someone gets shot and the nightclub closes.

Mr. Compton,
Gamble with your own money. That hotel will not do much for the economy or provide good jobs. It will probably displace another hotel. I don't think the city should be a part of putting one hotel out of business or putting another in business.

If Mr. Compton wants to bring some new industry or high paying jobs to town, then we can talk.

That the problem, attitudes like you present. Don't like it? GO AWAY! This is why we are last in everything. If this town would attract some good jobs by way of attracting some good companies, it would have more tax dollars to do things with. Give a property tax abatement, New employees and money spent in this town gives us sales tax revenue.

How many engineers, architects, etc. stay in Lawrence after they graduate? I have family that has wanted to move a tech company here and there is no labor force to draw upon, they are going elsewhere.

KU fraternity suspended by national organization in wake of animal cruelty allegations

Again, great organization, great track record. They made a mistake and behaved poorly. Every young person does at some point. Look at the comments made on this forumn, some of you behave very poorly at times. Teach them this is bad and let them continue to turn out outstanding young men. And for the Greek haters, they are not your typical Fraternity, but they are college aged young men. I'm sure dorm and apartment dwellers have never done something stupid at a party.

Police respond to animal cruelty complaint at KU fraternity

Ok, I'll admit they abused this bird and that was wrong. Why don't we just shoot them? Obviously they are a complete waste of skin.

They are a good group of young men who obviously had too much to drink and some of them acted like jerks.
