Lawhorn's Lawrence: When snow shoveling actually makes you feel good
Chad - your columns always make me smile and I was happy to have you help me shovel in front of Footprints for a while and to get to meet you!

Former player Greg Gurley settling into 'dream job' as KU radio analyst
He sounds like Kevin Costner, which always reminds me of baseball, which is a sport that puts me to sleep - guess its the monotone everybody is mentioning. Not a good fit for basketball.

Town Talk: Downtown Italian restaurant set to open today; sad tale of how Lawrence Hereford House led to crime; city to recycle unwanted trash cans on Friday
Yes, when are the new ones supposed to finally be finished being delivered? I still don't have mine.

Four area teenagers taken to hospital after wreck on County Road 458
These are indeed good kids - I know the driver and both her parents. Accidents happen and I am glad there were no worse injuries. As far as driving age, if a driver turned 16 prior to December of 2011, they are grandfathered in under the old legal driving age rules. The driver in this case falls under these rules, not the new ones.

Trash task force sets recycling goal, public forum
I am a single person fixed-income household and feel like I'm paying too much for trash service as it is. Since I recycle (aprx. one trip to Wal Mart every two months) and compost, I hardly ever set out for pickup the large trash can in my garage - I think perhaps I last put it out in early December? (I honestly cannot remember!) Adding more money to my trash bill will only cause me more financial hardship and charge me for a service I rarely use. If I could opt out of trash service altogether, I would.

Lawrence residents recall how they beat the heat in the days before air conditioning
Some younger residents remember it too ... I'm in early my 40s and grew up in Kansas without AC. The experience sure makes it easier to now save the money and keep the thermostat at 85 degrees.
