Journal-World websites to require commenters to identify themselves

Since there will no longer be a need for it, will the "Most Discussed" column disappear as well? Or will it just become the most "Liked" column?

Does this mean there will be no more very informative blogs from strippers trolling for business? Or did that end with Kealing's departure?

What will happen to those people that have nothing better to do in their lives but to spend their days "zombie hunting" and outing anyone they suspect of being someone they don't like that had a username previously banned? I fear this publication has now removed their whole reason for being.

One more thing. While my name is actually fairly common back east, it has recently come to my attention that at least one other person in this area has the same name that I do. Not that there is anything I can do about it, but I would hate to have this person comment here without anonymity and have his comments ( including previous comments if they exist ) attributed to me by others such as my employer for example.

I find myself wondering if there is some sort of financial situation involved for the LJWord to be wanting to force everyone to use Facebook like the Google thing.

Like many others here have stated before me, those that have a life and therefore no need for Facebook (fake profile or not) will be SOL as far as participating in these comments are concerned. As for those that that are the Facebook kind of people, they are currently setting up their fake profiles to use.

At any rate, I have a feeling the click count will go down. Which means a lot of ads not getting viewed. That will probably mean wanting people to pay to come to this site.

Should Lawrence keep or repeal the ban on fireworks?

Should LJW keep or repeal the Google survey that prevents us from reading the news (which,by the way, is why we come here)?

Lawrence gas station owner gets caught up in national battle with Big Oil over future of ethanol

I'm expecting a request being made of the city to pay for all of it with the city pulling out it checkbook no questions asked. Then of course paying for the "unexpected" costs a few months later.

Homeless shelter, nearing capacity, gets more bus passes; city rejects tennis court lights

"The more interesting information about the shelter is that the facility already is running at near capacity, Henderson told commissioners."

Build it and they will come.

"... but it has been a bigger problem than expected,"

It always is. If there is only one thing you can count on in this town, that is it.
