Brownback wants to keep higher state sales tax; Democrats say that proves his income tax policy isn't working

So move to Missouri and enjoy a state that has low taxation. It is already a wreck.

Conservative groups to host discussion on tax reform

They "invited" Davis, but I'm not sure he has accepted the invitation. If these people had any intellectual courage, they should have invited Duane Goossen, a former Republican state rep, and former State Budget Director. He knows the state budget inside and out, and can easily identify the lies and implications that this cast of characters will throw out.

Might as well call this the Koch Brothers Tax Propaganda Conference.

New Lawrence PAC raises $14K as City Commission election draws near; Farmer top candidate fundraiser at $11K

I would respect other candidates more if they gave more of their own money to their campaign. That way they are not on the take from special interests.

Public airs questions over $92.5 million school bond issue

Jim Mullins said the people of Lawrence opposed the transportation tax.

Jim Mullins said the people of Lawrence opposed the Library.

Jim Mullins says lots of things which are utterly false.

What he doesn't say is that his paycheck is underwritten by the lobbying organization (Americans for Prosperity) controlled by the richest, and most secret, Kansas private business.....Koch.

Jim Mullins, Dave Trabert, Art Hall, the KANSAS chamber of commerce and others are just peas in a pod.

House approves bill requiring KU Medical Center to establish stem cell research center

Dear Editors.

"Stem Cell Research" and "Adult Stem Cell Research" are decidedly very different subject matters.

Your headline reflecting the former, when what is being discussed is the later, is very much central to the problem of confusion of terms.

City Commission candidates disagree on how to serve homeless in downtown Lawrence

Farmer has more Fritzel donations listed on his campaign finance statements than probably every other candidate combined.

And his primary campaign statement is to "obtain community consensus."

I have not heard how he would address 1) cell phone towers, 2) Varsity House, or 3) Rock Chalk park, and how "community consensus" would occur.

Buyer beware.

Mayor wants more information on KU-Fritzel agreements before final approval of rec center plan

If there isn't something noxious in the KUEA-Fritzel agreement, it would have already been released.

I hope the commissioners would start to understand this. This thing needs to be examined and discussed in the community before any so-called second-reading of the ordinance.
