Democratic caucuses this year no repeat of 2008
A modest suggestion for the Democrat re-election effort. They should embrace their dearth of new ideas, yet be refeshingly honest about their intentions.
Obama's re-election battle cry should be, "We ARE the TEE Party! A vote for the TEE Party is a vote for yourself!"
If course, the acronym stands for "Tax Everyone Else."

Enthusiastic crowd turns out for Paul rally ahead of today’s GOP caucuses
Judging from the cheers that went up when he called out to the independents and politically disenfranchised, my guess is there weren't all that many registered Republicans in the crowd.

Enthusiastic crowd turns out for Paul rally ahead of today’s GOP caucuses
My guess is Paul would say that, constitutionally, the federal government has no authority to interfere with a local zoning issue, but, philosophically, one should be at liberty to use one's property as one wishes, as long as no one else is hurt by the action.

Enthusiastic crowd turns out for Paul rally ahead of today’s GOP caucuses
One of my favorite lines last night went something like this: "I wonder how many in Congress would have voted for the Patriot Act if it had been called The Repeal of the 4th Amendment? Because that is what it is."
Paul revealed an aspect of the assassination of Anwar Al Awlaki I had not known before. I had read that Awlaki was killed by a drone strike on the car he was riding in, and that a friend, who was also a US citizen, happened to be in the car with him, so one US citizen was targeted, but two were killed. I guess that would be called collateral damage, or, perhaps, bagging two birds with one stone.
Paul says there was a third citizen taken out in that operation. He said that Awlaki's 16 year old son, also a US citizen, was targeted and killed in a second strike, when the son was outside "barbecuing with a friend." I didn't catch whether the friend was also killed.
Awlaki may have been a bad guy, as he was accused of various crimes, but he was never charged, much less tried and convicted, and now we will never know if he was guilty because he has already been executed. The 16 year old apparently committed the heinous crime of being the son of someone this administration deemed to be a threat. No trial, no charges, just sudden death. This action was taken under cover of the Repeal of the Fourth Amendment,,,,er,,,,,The Patriot Act.

Firm maps out school consolidation group's proposals
Option 1 - build a new school at 15th & Haskell?
How long ago was it the district gifted the existing school building at 15th & Haskell to the Boys & Girls Club?

Town Talk: Radio station apologizes for KU mistake of ‘epic proportions’; sand plant slated for Jeff. Co. but traffic slated for Douglas; a three-story office building for cheap
That 3 story office building in Lecompton would be a great place for the SRS office. Who can argue with free rent?

Executive pay varies widely at Lawrence nonprofits
There is another very important difference between for-profit and not-for-profit entities. The for-profits pay tax on their profits, the not-for-profits do not. The not-for-profits can also amass huge fortunes to invest in forvprofit entities, and keep the profits without paying taxes on them.
I would like to see an enterprising journalist uncover the total amount of monies held by not-for-profit entities nationwide in investments, retirement accounts, real estate, etc) and then extrapolate the tax that would be collected on that money if it were held by a for-profit organization.
If that is too much of a stretch, it would be helpful to see how our city, county and school budgets would be affected if the not-for-profit organizations in Douglas County were required to pay the same property tax rate that commercial property owners pay.

You are quite right. FOR the PROFIT of the executive administrators and their consultants. You give your money to a not-for-profit and most of that money goes to fund luxurious lifestyles for the executives.
United Way should include a prospectus for each organization it represents in its fundraising efforts, one that discloses the salaries and benefits of the executive staff, and the percentage of funds allocated to administration and fundraising vs actually funding the "good work."

Speaker O'Neal apologizes for forwarding email that calls Michelle Obama "Mrs. YoMama"
Bill Clinton steps out onto the White House lawn in the dead of winter. Right in front of him, on the White House lawn, he sees "The President Must Die" written in urine across the snow. Well, old Bill is pretty pissed off.
He storms into his security staff's headquaters and yells, "Somebody wrote a death threat in the snow on the front damn lawn! And they wrote it in urine! Son-of-a-b***had to be standing right on the porch when he did it! Where were you guys?"
The security guys stay silent and stare ashamedly at the floor. Bill hollers, "Well dammit, don't just sit there! Get out and FIND OUT WHO DID IT! I want an answer, and I want it TONIGHT!"
The entire staff immediately jumped up and raced for the exits. Later that evening, his chief security officer approaches him and says, "Well Mr. President, we have some bad news, and we have some really bad news. Which do you want first?"
Clinton says, "Oh Hell, give me the bad news first." The officer says, "Well, we took a sample of the urine and tested it. The results just came back, and it was Al Gore's urine."
Clinton says, "Oh my god, I feel so ... so betrayed! My own vice president! Damn. Well, what's the really bad news?"
The officer replies, "Well, it's Hillary's handwriting."

"Laura Bush is spending the weekend with Bill Clinton. She is the keynote speaker at the three-day Clinton Global Initiative. President Bush says he's OK with this, but we'll see how he feels when she comes back with her skirt on backwards and without that frozen smile." --Bill Maher
""I don't know if you noticed this but when President Bush gave his State of the Union speech, he announced the person heading up the offensive on gangs and gang violence would be First Lady Laura Bush. Today the first lady announced the name of her anti-gang program 'Just Say Yo!'" --Jay Leno
or how about the first children?
"First Lady Laura Bush said that Jenna Bush's new boyfriend is not a serious boyfriend. Yeah, Laura Bush described him as more of a drinking buddy." --Conan O'Brien
