Opinion: KU's offense not quite right in opener

Go ahead and say it... A big part of the problem is the way Charlie Weis calls games. I love what he's done for our program, but he's just not a good game caller. In the first half when we should have just been pounding the ball on the ground, he's throwing. In the second half, when South Dakota was gassed and we should've been going deep, he's running those stupid wildcat plays.

Yes, there were plenty of on-field mistakes to correct, but the biggest correction would be to remove the playcall headset from Coach Weis.

Opinion: Seniors Travis Releford, Jeff Withey huge for Kansas

And you can see Ford and other OSU coaches looking at Travis's foot. They couldn't bitch. They knew he was in, was a great play, and that the game was over.

TV crew to search for Bigfoot in Kansas

Other clock-ticking, eye-off-the-ball time-wasters: Tragically hip, mondo blase cranks who rail on people in online comment threads.

A national TV production company is coming to our state. Welcome the business. Welcome the attention. At least it isn't another news team doing a story on Phelps or other b.s. Kansas has become known for.

Closings and cancellations for Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011

"Why doesn't the school look at late arrival?" Because that would make too much sense.

Olathe, KCK, KCMO, Blue Valley, Shawnee Mission as well as all the smaller, surrounding districts are out tomorrow, taking their students' welfare into account. So what if additional time needs to be tacked on to the end of some school days or even, heaven forbid, add one day in the springtime?

Keep your children at home when it's dangerously cold --like tomorrow.
