Opinion: Having a little humility never hurts

I have agreed with Mr. Pitts many times. This is definitely one of those times. An EXCELLENT article!!

@ Frankie8...I'm with you! I could never do the job police officers, fire fighters, teachers, or other heroes do on a day-to-day basis. Those heroes need to be paid what this Witherspoon person is hauling in. I see people all the time on the internet who do NOTHING with their lives except "star" in some ridiculous reality series and they are millionaires!! I don't even know who these people are, but evidently, the public made them "famous". I would venture to say, our priorities need a bit of shaking up. We, as a country, should be ashamed!!

Letter: Shame on us

My cousin does her gardening with a loaded, ready-to-shoot gun in her pocket. I told her that one of these days her husband or one of her sons...or any relative or friend just stopping by for a visit...will walk up behind her, scare the living daylights out of her, and she'll shoot them. Possibly shoot them dead. Or her gun will go off (remember, it's loaded and ready-to-shoot) and shoot her in the leg (or elsewhere) while digging in the dirt or other gardening activities. She laughed at me. If I were her, I wouldn't be laughing. One of her sons, who is 42 and doesn't have a brain in his head, carries one, also...loaded, ready-to-shoot. These people (relatives!) scare me more than any would-be robbers or mass murderers who will probably never come my way. The chances of being shot (accidentally) by a relative (or friend) is much more likely than by a robber or mass murderer...and that makes me freaking angry!! I entertain a VAST amount of disgust for foolish people such as my cousin and her son.

I can't even BEGIN to imagine what that "need" may be. To defend themselves with a 30-round clip? Really? 30?? What a miserable life of fear some people live. Truly amazes me.

Lawrence man punched in face by stranger on Massachusetts Street

At 2:30 a.m. Yeah, I can see intoxication being part of that scenario.

Cancer fighter organizes swim-a-thon to help drown out disease

As a cancer survivor, I commend you for putting your idea into action, Mr. Nielsen. I hope your next Drown Out Cancer event will be even bigger and better. I wish you well. You could VERY possibly be in that 8 percent!! I agree with you that this is INDEED your calling. Blessings to you and your family, Mr. Nielsen!

Letter: Vengeful God

Hi tange...Reminds me of my reaction to Liberty_1. I've been over Armstrong for quite a while...but even Liberty_1 wasn't enough to make me want to be fishing instead. :~)

Letter: Vengeful God

phoggyjay...I am very confused by your comments...
"If there was a God, why would he have given me cancer when I was 14 and has allowed my Dad and Grandpa to get incurable cancer now?"

If you don't believe in God, then why the comment about God perhaps (if there were indeed a God according to your belief system) deciding to give you cancer...and also your dad and grandpa? As I said, I'm confused.

And as for Corey Williams...I have no idea WHAT you're talking about (or trying to say).
