RIP Chancellor Bob. You were a great guy, always more than kind to me.

Plans call for pair of buildings to be demolished near Ninth and Iowa to make way for high-tech car wash; Zarco owner launches tech product for convenience store industry

The former gas station at 9th and Ohio was a Valero after Valero rebranded their Total stations, if I'm not mistaken.

Downtown Lawrence call center gives details on plans to hire nearly 200

No wonder they said they didn't have any applications for him when he wandered in their doors looking for work!

Prepare to relax, savor at the most intimate restaurant in Lawrence

The commentariat probably wouldn't like it because it's not Olive Garden, but Cafe Beautiful is one of Lawrence's finest treasures. I was apprehensive when Chef Suken left, but Chef Mel is just as amazing as well. Reilly a world-class dining experience. Lawrence is lucky to have her, and we will certainly be back next time we're in town.

KU homecoming parade downtown will herald a zombie invasion

Opinion: Ho Chi Minh not a Jeffersonian

I'm Cal curiously leaves out Reagan's support of Saddam Hussein (along others) and GWB's love of Vladimir "Pooty Poot" Putin. Cal might want to look up the word "realpolitik" in the dictionary. I'm sure it was just an oversight.

Thief chops down and steals five downtown Lawrence parking meters; police seek public's help

They're not after the change. They're after the scrap metal value. Probably meth fiends.

Lawhorn's Lawrence: Quantrill's Raid is everywhere

Great article, Chad. And while this isn't directly related to the Quantrill raid itself, I'd urge everyone to get down to the Battle of Black Jack battleground near Baldwin City and check it out. They give free tours on weekends and do a fantastic job with it. It's an important part of local and national history that many people don't know is right in your own backyard.
