Kline chosen as Johnson County district attorney
Kline election totally result of apathy; voters not paying attention to election of precinct committeemen and women. Wingnuts silently and agressively took over the Republican party machinery. Same thing happened in Shawnee County two years ago. One church spent $25,000 to get right wingers (mostly its members) elected in most precincts. Nobody paid attention til it was too late.

A new round for the SLT
It's supposed to be bypass, right? 31 or 32 don't bypass anything, but will just tear up a thriving retail area. 23rd street was sort of a bypass once, and look what happened.

Simons: Strengthening downtown more vital than 'protecting' it
I understand downtown real estate is owned by just a few persons. How about LJW publishing a map showing who owns what?

Senator wants to block assisted suicide
It's interesting that Topeka Capital-Journal, once owned by Brownback wife's family (his father-in-law still serves on editorial board) seldom reports on the Senator's activities or his presidential aspirations.
Thanks to the J-W for keeping us Topekans informed.

Runner reports seeing mountain lion along river levee
I think the mountain lion was released by Phil Kline; he can then issue a press release that we need not worry, mountain lions are illegal and he will talk it to death.

Bus ridership soars
Lawrentians seem to be against the public library, public transportation, Eagle Bend golf course, all of the amenities which make a city a good place to live.
And the newspaper even lets us air our complaints at great length. Hooray for Larryville.

Woodling: James packing his bags
Glad Bill will come back. It is amazing that we have the country's greatest baseball expert in Lawrence and the country's greatest golf course expert in Topeka.
Maybe Kansas is as big as we think.

Ryun files for re-election
Trivia: Ryun was congressman who approved sale of that 50 caliber rifle, the most powerful personal weapon in the world, to everyone in the world. Said the NRA approved. Now, when our troops are the targets of this weapon, where is our Congressman.
