LMH won't reopen mental health unit

Most of the homeless on Mass and at least a third of people in county jail are in need of mental health care.
And most psychiatrists don't want to care for them.

What Kansas needs is to open up state hospitals again.

Pay raise expected to boost Capitol diversity

Raise their pay, but do away with their retirement plan which is a real rip-off and the main reason most serve. For retirement purposes, their current pay is annualized, figured as if they worked 52 weeks a year. So these guys can retire with fairly big bucks for working about three months a year.

Criminal. The dirty little secret they do not talk about.

HH Bar and Grill to open in June

Agreed. The steaks were below average and the seafood only made you wish you had ordered a below average steak. But the service was great.

Bill allows concealed guns at ballparks

Cities still have right to regulate unconcealed carry. I say let them allow unconcealed carry. This would make it clear to everyone who is or who is not carrying. And you could determine who to avoid.

I think it would also do more to discourage criminal action. They wouldn't have to guess who is carrying a weapon.

And it would sure be easier to draw your weapon than having to reach into your purse or your shoulder holster.
I wonder: does the concealed weapon training include fast draws.

Ryun preparing to run again

Wonder who is making the mortgage payments on Jim's Washington and Lawrence homes? That's a million dollars worth of real estate.

Advertising campaign for library to focus on parking, size needs

Strap on your guns and go to Topeka to see what a top notch library is like. Or are all of you as illiterate as you sound? Good grief.

A return to the days of Dodge City?

What's wrong with unconcealed carry? If people think concealed weapons prevent crime, unconcealed weapons will be even more effective. No question whether you are armed or not.

Are people embarrassed to be seen carrying a weapon?

Simons: Action on KU-St. Luke's affiliation sidesteps legislation

That stateline is not a wall, and we shouldn't build one.
This collaboration has got to benefit both. Sometimes I think the editor played too much football with those old leather helmets.

Ryun says he'll go back on campaign trail 'full time'

Ryun wasn't a failure. In 10 years in Washington he acquired a million dollars worth of real estate--$700M plus in Washington and $400 plus in Lawrence--all on a salary of $100M plus a year.
Maybe he should come back to Lawrence and go into real estate development.

I live in Topeka. Your website so superior to Capital-Journal, I turn to LJW first thing each day; then Wichita-Eagle, then Cap-Jnl. Find out more about Topeka in the other websites, particularly about state government and political news.
