It's tough being a Wichita State fan in Jayhawk Nation

I am not a particularly huge Shocker fan. I follow along with their season and I am indifferent to their wins and losses. With that being said, I am always in favor of them. WSU fans want respect for one year of tremendous success, that KU and other respected powerhouses spent decades building. That doesn't happen in the world of sports. Consistency is the key to getting that kind of respect. Let's see where they are next year and the year after that. If they keep up the winning seasons, they will get the respect they're, almost desperately, demanding. I am not downplaying their talent and obvious drive this season and last March. They have done tremendously well. However, I don't know of any team that doesn't have "haters" when they're at the top. It's part of being one of the best...dealing with the negatives, which I think SOME (not all) Shocker fans and at times, Greg Marshall, has handled poorly.

Line-cutting, mobbing has KU Athletics reviewing Late Night admittance protocol

I was a student once and I agree that the students play a large part in KU Basketball success, but they also have very easy and cheaper access to KU games. There are many in the community that show up to Late Night because it is their only opportunity to see the action in person, even if it is only a scrimmage and a few silly skits. Thus, I don't think first priority should be given to students. They already have first priority and a bigger advantage. There is also enough preferential treatment for certain individuals already. This is a free event and KUAD should work on making it as equal for everyone as they can.

Line-cutting, mobbing has KU Athletics reviewing Late Night admittance protocol

I paid thousands of dollars to KU and am still paying for it. That doesn't matter to KUAD and nor does it justify getting in line in front of everyone else. I do agree that it wasn't the students fault. There are many different fans who rushed the doors.

Westar residential rates would go up $3 per month under proposed settlement

That is exactly what I was thinking!!! Every account pays per use. Why should residential accounts be footing part of a businesses energy bill? That is part of the cost of a business -- energy usage. That's not an individual user's problem! The majority of us are already maxed out when paying bills! We shouldn't have to pay for a businesses bills, especially ones we don't frequent or even know about.

Heard on the Hill: Changes coming to Business School's MBA program; Missouri governor signs bill quashing KU license plates; Natural History Museum sponsors event that talks about extreme weather

"Because KU refuses to play us in basketball this year" is a petty reason to support a bill that is based upon personal dislikes and emotions. As a legislator, I wouldn't stand behind this bill regardless of my personal devotions. Sports and your loyalty to a team is not a just purpose for creating a bill and passing legislation.

Trash carts get a push

I think it would be more beneficial to invest in a curb-side recycling program instead of spending money on 20,000 trash carts and then knocking 50 cents off a bill while trying to convince us all it's a "reduced rate." That's nothing!

Curb-side recycling is very handy and would definitely reduce waste. Wichita has curb-side recycling. They give the citizens large bins where you can throw cardboard, plastic, plastic sacks, cans, etc, all together. You don't have to separate anything and you put out the recycling bin just like your trash. It's so easy! I think Lawrence would benefit greatly from this service.

Our current recycling system in Lawrence is anything but easy. You have to separate everything, find the nearest recycling bins. Load it all in your car (and some of us do not have much room in our vehicles!). Then when you do find recycling bins, they usually don't have a bin for everything you need to recycle! It is a great hassle and I believe that is why many residents don't bother with it!

God, marriage

I thought Christianity was accepting your neighbors for who they are? Not demeaning them for differences in their belief, but praising them for their life. Its great to spread the word of Christianity and tell others how it has shaped you and your life. I think mom_of_three has a good point. Baptists, Catholics...etc all worship the same being....the Holy Spirit. Yet, we still "fight." God is still loving no matter how you get to him.

However, you are entitled to believe whatever you choose. I say, if that's what brings you fulfillment, then do it and don't let anyone else tell you different.

God, marriage

You have a bogus way of thinking for believing your thoughts are superior over everyone else's "bogus way of thinking."
