Roberts, Moran vote against expanded background checks in gun sales

"It's a redundant law designed specifically to make it harder for law-abiding citizens to exercise a constitutional right."

(ahem!...cough!...voter i.d. law....cough!)

Roberts, Moran vote against expanded background checks in gun sales

(let's re-visit a certain argument having to do with the recent i.d. law for voting)

"You need an i.d. for everything! I need to show mine to cash a check, drive, etc.... I find it perfectly acceptable to need one to vote" Can't we use the same discussion for background checks? "I need to pass a background check to rent a house, get a loan, get a job, etc... I find it perfectly acceptable to pass one to buy a gun" ???

How come it's ok to require an i.d. to vote but not pass a background check for acquiring a firearm? Isn't it the same idea?

hy·poc·ri·sy (h-pkr-s) n. pl. hy·poc·ri·sies 1. The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness. 2. An act or instance of such falseness.

ISU coach Fred Hoiberg impressed by Elijah Johnson, says late no-call 'didn't go our way'

Glad I'm not the only one who saw that! The call could've gone either way. I agree that, at least, there should have been a call. Horrible night for the refs overall.

Letter: Masters, servants

Personally, I don't live on a street that requires much winter maintenance. Why do I have to pay for someone else's problem? CHIBW, why are you MOOCHING?

Letter: Masters, servants

"I must not have a city commissioner living on my block either." CHIBW complaining that the taxpayer funded snow removal isn't doing its job by clearing of his/her street.

"Why should tax dollars be used to provide you something that you could provide for yourself?"

Editorial: Uncomfortable fact

All this back and forth is so tiresome. "You suck!" "No, YOU suck!" The fact of the matter is the government will always be in the hole. That's how the system's set up. The central banks lend the money to the government and we have to pay it back at a price. Good job, though, playing along. It's funny how quickly things change. Remember Dick "deficits don't matter" Cheney?

Doing their job

I have a complaint. Mitt Romney is probably a unicorn! Let's waste taxpayer money to make sure this isn't the case!

Obama: Recovery path hard, challenge 'can be met'

Amazing how people forget, huh Jafs? Good work by the Repubs I must say, politically at least. They knew this would happen. That was the plan all along. Obstruct President Obama then and be able to say that he's done nothing now.
