Cyclist critically hurt after hitting car at Bob Billings and Crossgate
I was one of the first people on the scene. I'm so relieved that the cyclist is doing so well. Care needs to be taken by everyone in Lawrence, bike riders as well as car drivers. Ride only on busy streets unless it is unavoidable. Riders who are on Iowa and Kentucky and Tennessee are putting themselves at risk when half of the car drivers are talking and texting on their cell phones.. Last night was a dark night. I'm sure the driver looked left and never saw the bicyclist who was cutting the corner a little short.

September 27th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up
What's the story on the accident which I saw at about 9:15 pm on 9/26 in the northbound bridge approach at 6th and Mass? It appeared to be an SUV involved with a bicycle. The bike was under the front right wheel of the SUV. There were at least 6 police cars, 2 firetrucks and an ambulance at the scene.

Portable solar trackers follow the sun, lead the way in efficiency
Mark Moser's company website is www.KonzaSolar.com
Mark's engineering skill is illuminated by the mechanism for tracking and positioning and yes he has calculated the wind-load issues. My understanding is the the efficiency actually goes up when you install in northern latitudes where there are 20 hour days in the summer and the sun moves thru a bigger arc. Having the tracking ability really pays off then. (downside is shorter days in the winter) He also has a larger size design that handles larger panels. I've read that Germany has a very large installed base of solar energy. It's all about having a "real" policy for self sustained energy production and not just lip service while we launch wars to protect our national security (oil in the gulf). As the price of energy rises, designs like this will become more desireable.

Mangino at center of drive to silence obscene chant at KU football games
Free speech allows everyone to show their true colors. And unfortunately KU students are showing their true nature. KU lost its class years ago. How about that "Sex on the Hill" edition of the UDK, now that's classy....

Great Game. The field was beautiful. Jeremiah Johnson's father's name is Roger last time I checked. Tom Keegan can be forgiven for it was merely a Freudian slip.

Suspect sought in student's slaying
"Police Sgt. Paul Fellers said Friday afternoon that the white Ford F-150 pickup truck Garcia-Nunez was last seen driving was found in another state, but Garcia-Nunez was not with the truck."Why are they withholding information? Don't you think that they should tell everyone exactly where the truck was found so that locals there could be alerted. "Another state" could be KCMO or Florida and all points between. This is not helpful to the public. It is sad that yet another precious life has been removed from this earth by a selfish act.
