So who wrote this? I think it's weird to post stories written by "staff".

Lawrence Public Schools announced as beneficiary of new culinary festival

The girls actually started the garden as their bronze award project and were lucky that Farm to School was starting up at the same time. Jamie McNally and Shelley Bointy of Girl Scout troop 1550 worked very hard on getting the garden at Prairie Park going and it was a lot of cookie money in action. Dayna Lee , "Dad of the troop." Lol.

No concealed carry in Lawrence schools

I think a lot more time should be spent discussing guns with children. I don't think that concealed guns are going to make a difference. It's better to explain to children what happens when you choose to carry and especially use a gun. It would be nice if a cop and a military person taught a class with a discussion. It's important to allow for questions. Make sure you pay attention.

Kansas trailer soon to have Kansas tags

People do this all the time. I'm a Lawrence native, so I've never needed to change my license for myself or my car, but working at a store, I see out of state licenses everyday. I don't think the donor was trying to be deceptive, just lazy. Whoever he or she is----THANKS!

Street name change would create intersection of Fambrough and — ack! — Missouri

I'm from here. I call 23rd street -23rd street. I call 15th street-15th street. (The whole thing.) The numbered streets are very handy when trying to find something. I do on occasion call 23rd Clinton Parkway, but only when someone wants to know how to get to the Lake. There are stretches of highway that are dedicated. Is it possible to dedicate streets, without changing their name?

City, business leaders not sounding alarm over retail store closings

I personally found that Old Navy is not the steal of a deal that it once was. The excitement of going to Old Navy as a parent was being able to buy something with a national label for a great deal. Sears I feel could have lasted if they were willing to carry a few "Kmart" brands to get you in the door. These days we just have to watch the sales and shop on the right days. I've noticed that Goodwill and Salvation Army are both open for business.

I vote we turn Sears into a skating rink. I miss skating.
