Editorial: Poor process
I would like for the facility to be re-designed to come in at $25 million, please. Let Fritzel put in his own damn infrastructure. Or at least improved to the tune of $18 million...perhaps THAT would be a showcase rec center.

Bid for recreation center comes in about $10 million lower than expected; questions grow over other cost estimates
Thanks. Have you compared the first one to the most recent one?

City recreation leaders not in favor of lighted tennis court plan near Lawrence High
Wow. $100K of my tax dollars for LTA. Or $100K of my tax dollars for security at City Hall. Decisions. Decisions. Maybe we can use $100K of the funds for Rock Chalk Park...there oughta be at least that much available now that the bids have come in, and surely Fritzel could figure out a way to wrangle it to make it work.

Planning Commission to debate Menards project Monday amid signs momentum may be turning
I don't think Kansas law approves tax abatement for retail/commercial enterprises.
No idea how a TIF would have to be structured for something like Menards...I don't think we've done anything like that for a similar type of operation in the past.
Paging Chad....

Is the $22M Crossland bid available for public viewing somewhere? Was this on a CC agenda?

Lawrence retail spending off to strong start in 2013; up 3.1 percent for the year
I'm sure your wife is only shopping (for you) at Menards Kansas City.
Hey...I think we should put her in charge of retail development for Lawrence. She knows exactly what we need! I know...I've seen her credit cards! ;-) And I bet she could swing some major discounts for the stores she could bring in. It's a WIN-WIN-WIN. Win for Lawrence, win for her and win for your wallet! Let's do it!

City estimates it may cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per year to keep concealed weapons out of city buildings
Then let's hire the FX director of "Home Alone"! :)
