After Black Friday, store owners touting Small Business Saturday
A pet peeve of mine are the lazing individuals that get on the LJ World and post about having to walk three blocks to get to their destination downtown.
First....rarely does one have to park three blocks to get to their destination. Usually, you can find a spot within a city block (at the most). Second, downtown is not for the lazy asses, etc.. Walking is a prerequisite for "any" thriving downtown in a medium/large size city. Always has...always will.
dudedog12....stick to drive thru service.

Letter: Rewriting history
"Even so, the nation remains split. Although Obama won the electoral vote, the popular vote remains relatively even. Obama did not receive a mandate".
The above are quotes from Dolph's editorial yesterday. Given this....here are some numbers to chew on....
Obama - 61,681,462 votes (51.33%) (percentage excludes third-party candidates)
Romney - 58,488,199 votes (48.67%) (percentage excludes third-party candidates)
The above numbers are updated as of this morning. The spread has continued to trend upwards from 2.25% (the morning after the election) to the current spread of 2.66% (51.33% - 48.67%). The 2.66% is higher than the 2004 election spread of 2.49% between Bush/Kerry.

Editorial: Promises pending
I'm shocked! What is it....the 487th editorial bashing Obama. Look Dolph....the LJ World readers (see DG county election results for further reference) don't give a rat's arse about your opinion...and rightfully so. Your just a partisan hack when it comes to Obama. Nothing more....nothing less.
With that being said, I'm very happy to see Obama receive a 2nd term. He did a good job considering the tough conditions that he was faced with when he took office. The country is healing...that's all we could ask for.

Unemployment dips below 8%
Just another piece of evidence that the economy continues to recover. What's the count up to now?....5,000,000 new private-sector jobs in the last 30 months with the addition of the 200,000 (September plus July/August revisions) new jobs in yesterday's report. Good news for President Obama.
Pretty impressive recovery considering the huge job loss from 2008/2009!

Kansas jobless rate dips to 6.2 % in Aug.
Not much of a surprise with the news of the KS unemployment. A slow but steady improvement in the overall jobs market.....not only in KS....but the nation. Just another reason why Obama's chances of getting re-elected keep improving.

Nation’s condition argues against Obama re-election
In related news....Dolph Simons Jr. sets American record with editorial today (breaking the old record set (1963) by Jimmy Ray Jones, editor with the Tennessee Backwards Times). In 1963, Jimmy Jones wrote 74 editorials criticizing then president John F. Kennedy.
Today, Dolph Simons Jr. breaks the record with the 75th editorial criticizing President Barack Obama. Quite an accomplishment.
Translation.....nothing to see here folks. Just another day...or shall I say...Groundhog Day from the editorial section.
:)
