Senate approves bill banning use of tax dollars to advocate for gun control
" which argued that taxes shouldn’t be used to promote regulations of legal products."
But it's OK to to create hurdles to access to a legal medical procedure like abortion.

Letter: Evil deeds
All this talk of free will implies that god does not know what we will do next. But isn't god all knowing and knows what the future holds (otherwise, what use has prophecy)?
Stepping out of this morass, I don't consider myself an atheist, I just think all religions were created by men.

I agree somewhat in principle, but what better use could it be put to than children's play?

Opponents of drug testing for welfare benefits see it as hassling the poor; Brownback says it will help

Letter: Settled issue
I believe in a right to own guns, but that right still allows such ownership to be regulated. Guns should be at least as regulated as cars. Register them all at every sale. Preferably background checks at every sale.

Bill introduced to abolish death penalty in Kansas
The death penalty is no deterrent. We have had it for thousands of years and yet we still kill one another.

KU student pushing for smoking ban on campus
I'd be satisfied if smokers learned not to toss their butts. I smoked for 12 or 13 years and after the first couple I never tossed my butts. It's bad enough that people smoke, but only stupid people litter.
