What do you think on the city’s proposed ban of couches on porches?

Having almost lost my child due to a fire in a sofa on an apartment balcony, I say this is a smart idea. This fire blocked the residents' ingress out of the apartment so they had to jump from a second floor window. Smoldering fires happen because of disgarded or forgotten smoking materials and the like. Please consider safety.

Local accident victims advocate against texting while driving

Here is my question: Who are you to think you are SO important that texting or making cell phone calls must be made immediately? Pull into a parking lot, pull off the road, do something but use these devises while driving. Drivers you are steering a 2 ton bullet... remember that.

BTW that goes for you who drive and read the paper, read a book on your notebook device, put on make up, stuff your face with breakfast, lunch or dinner, drink (whatever liquid), or disipiline your kids in the back seat. Driving is a responsiblity and a priviledge. Thank you- I have safely jumped off my soap box.

High-speed chase ends with suspect's vehicle on fire east of Perry

Someone tell me why non moving violations are important enough to endanger lives of other drivers? 100 mph for window tinting, obstruction of a tag ID? I hope there is more to this story than what is written. Or perhaps the KHP should review their rules on high speed pursuits.

180-foot tower planned south of Lone Star Lake

This is fantasic news for Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, EMS first responders. Communiciation is very diffiuclt in the SW part of the county, so this will enhance their abilities to serve (safely) their communities.

Driver in head-on crash had prior DUIs

If you are so interested in condeming every authority, why don't you call the DA yourself and get the same answer. Rediculous.

10th Circuit Court of Appeals upholds state's approved route of South Lawrence Trafficway through the Baker Wetlands

Can we all now just move on? This project has taken more time and funds than it did to plan, build, pay for and use the Kansas Turnpike or what was called the "Fort to Fort Highway." Please, I reiterate, let's move on.
