City planners recommending denial of proposed Menard's store; Planning Commission to debate project Monday

Don't forget Dillard's wanted to open a distribution center here awhile back. It was denied because evidently Lawrence doesn''t need low tech jobs. It went to Olathe instead and they currently employ over 500 people.

Really? Could Wal*Mart open a store on 6th Street on land zoned for "that type of business" without a lawsuit? I just shake my head at these people.

"Rules of Basket Ball" museum to get a name; Burt Hall to be razed

Seems like a big waste of money. Too bad they couldn't put it to better use helping somebody.

Proposed recycling service leaves future of private curbside recycling companies uncertain

I'm tired of paying for something I don't want or need. My rental was vacant for 10 months and the city still charged me for trash fees. What BS. No trash to pick up. Now I'm being forced to pay for recycling too. I'm gonna roll that damn bin out to the curb and make em look into the empty bin every week! Putting 7 local businesses out of work so they can give the business to a huge corporation is ridiculous and should be illegal. Everyone gripes about Wal*Mart putting small business under. Why isn't anyone upset about the city doing it?

Rental inspection proposal stalls, will be revisited

“This issue is about courage, leadership and safety,” said Tom Harper, I cough (Bull$4i7!!)

Ummmm. 18,000 rental units would require adding 3 or 4 additional people to the cities payroll....This issue can be addressed using current the system that is currently in place, but by all means..."Courageously" grow local government and spend spend spend! Idiot!
