Ceremony to remember unique Lawrence figure
I was a teenager and worked in Lawrence after highschool and remember Leo very well. He was always out and about on the streets. Our family were close friends of some of his relation.
Glad to hear of his recognition.

City approves development agreement, tax abatement for $25M Rock Chalk Park recreation center

Lining some pockets?

Lawhorn's Lawrence: When snow shoveling actually makes you feel good
beatnik, I think you ' hit the nail on the head ' with your comment. Not too many people would get out to enjoy both shoveling snow, but to enjoy meeting people in need, and to entertain us by writing such well-written comments. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us, Chad.

Farmer wants to highlight need for more jobs, technical education as part of City Commission campaign
UltimateGrownup, I have voted for many years and never asked who I voted for. I really don't think that has anything to do with what the man is trying to accomplish and he needs all the
help he can get. I'm sure the going will be tough for him, but all the local support he can get will be helpful.

I do not know this gentleman, but seems like he is what ALL people in politics should be listening to and working to help our middle-class and lower. We all need jobs.
Good for you speaking how you feel, Jeremy. Hope you make it.

Should the city ticket property owners with snowy sidewalks?
My most concern are the elderly and disabled that are not able to get outside without falling
or who are confined to wheelchairs or use walkers for daily use inside the house. Many of
them could maybe get someone to shovel their sidewalks, but some of them are living
from month to month and can't extend their money further.
I say no to giving city tickets, mainly because there are many of these tickets just pile
up - not paid - then what happens - more money to be spent by the individual.
The city should take care of the sidewalks, giving more work for someone in the city at
minimum wages.

City to begin enforcing ordinance requiring sidewalks to be cleared of snow at 8 a.m. Thursday
I just feel sorry for the elderly that cannot get out to the sidewalk, let alone maintain it.
Are there any exceptions for them?
