New pro-business political action committee enters city commission race, fueled by $5,000 donation

Stunning and sad how everyone wants to throw this newly formed group under the bus for their sole intention of promoting candidates who want to CREATE JOBS in this community. Why is this group so threatening? No wonder its so difficult to find high paying jobs in Lawrence. All the naysayers here are why Lawrence has such a rotten reputation in our region. Where can I send a donation to this group?????

Business-oriented political action committee gets big donations, endorses Chestnut, Farmer, Riordan in City Commission race

It's about time! Hopefully, this group will stifle all the NIMBY's at LAN. I think this community will soon see a turn in the tide against all the opponents of everything that comes before City Hall. I hope this group is successful. Where do I send my contribution?????

District orders changes to 8th grade slavery lesson

While i agree with the modification, I can't help but believe this is a total over-reaction and typical of today's world where everyone is offended by everything. Pick your battles, parents. I don't think this is one of them. And I say this with the utmost respect for Mr. Harrell.

United Way officials say campaign on track to reach lowered goal of $1.7 million

You certainly care, toe. Because every single time a story appears about them, you are usually one of the first to post a comment. Hold a grudge much?

Longtime employee Linda Lassen 1 of 2 laid off at Penn House on Friday

I think Kyle is somewhat of an innocent casualty of this debacle. Granted, his posting on this forum didn't help. My sense is that he is merely a pawn of the CEO and board as it pertains to this mess. Where are they????? Why haven't they stepped forward to provide clarity? Their silence speaks volumes. Kyle, run, run, run as fast as you can. You deserve better treatment from your CEO and the board.

Longtime employee Linda Lassen 1 of 2 laid off at Penn House on Friday

I shudder to think of how her termination was handled and by who. No doubt by underlings instead of the director. Shameful the way it was handled and with no notice. They knew it was coming and gave her no opportunity to prepare. What purpose did this serve? There have been staffing cuts in non-profits everywhere, but many of those are done with care and compassion. Linda was deserving of both. Downward spiral is right. How could their board allow her dismissal to be handled this way? Clearly, leadership is lacking across the board. No pun intended.

Dean of Education initiated recent email incident over turkey abuse case

Perhaps not firing, but formal probation and admonishment for certain. A tenured colleague was put through the wringer for an email sent within his department that another staff member perceived hostile. Which it was not. The treatment he received was reprehensible from the powers that be. The overall drop in morale university wide rests firmly in the laps of the the top two leaders of KU. This entire turkey email debacle is much ado about nothing.
