The World Company names Mark Potts as top news executive
Our former managing editor Dennis Anderson left for another job in May; Mark's position touches every paper our company owns. There is still a search for a managing editor.

Manhattan man drops challenge to Obama on state ballot
If someone posted the same thing about Mitt Romney, I would remove it.

Manhattan man drops challenge to Obama on state ballot
I'm not sure why you're being so combative. I explained why I removed your comment. The vast majority of the more than 550 comments you've left since late July remain.

Manhattan man drops challenge to Obama on state ballot
Your comment was removed because you called the president a closeted homosexual, and the only purpose for posting something like is to troll, pure and simple. You can read all about me here: http://www2.ljworld.com/staff/alex_pa.... i was never a UDK editor.

Classifieds section omitted from Saturday's paper, will be included in Sunday's edition
While this story doesn't fit the traditional definition of breaking news, we wanted to make sure those wondering where their classified section was saw this message when they came to the website. By putting it at the top of the page, we ensured people would see it and have their questions answered.

3 injured in head-on accident in 900 block of Maine Street
These are valid questions and points. We make the best effort not include specific identifying information in instances like these, but it's part of our mission to provide as much information as possible. As kernal points out, we do work with law enforcement in certain cases. For instance, we held off on posting any photos or information identifying the victim in the fatality near I-70 a few weeks ago until the family was notified. We take caution not to cause undue worry, and treat every incident on a case-by-case basis.

Headlines are generally written by editors, either copy editors or an editor who is posting a story. In most cases, if an error is seen, it's fixed by whomever gets there first, whether it's an editor or the reporter who wrote the story.
In this case, posters are correct that we waited too long to fix a headline that caused some double takes.

A little fun?
That's been a long-standing rule, which you have invoked many times. I have explained every decision to you. I'm sorry you feel you aren't treated you fairly. I disagree. In the year or so I have been here, you have left more than 2,000 comments, nearly 20 percent of your all-time total. I have removed a grand total of 127 of your comments, a miniscule percentage of what you have left.
When you have complained to me about someone replying to your posts after you've asked them not to, I have asked again on your behalf.
You continue to criticize me and others on this forum, but are upset when others disagree with you or call you out on things. I will continue to treat you as I do with other users: fairly, with a mind toward the TOS and an understanding of your past behavior.
