Obama’s inauguration

The 44th President: Jan. 20, 2009

· January 20, 2009 · Post a comment

Barack Obama became the 44th president of the United States on Jan. 20, 2009 — the first African-American elected to the position. Many locals made the trip to Washington, D.C., to watch the historic event. Others watched from here in Kansas.

WOW, the guy has been prez for 24 hours and all that feeling of hope and progress has managed to be reduced to name calling and kindergarten classroom bullying.I would ask you all this, not just republicans but especially democrats who are so fiercely defending the President…What is your call to service?? What are you doing in the community to make it better?? What people are you serving in this community?President Obamas platform, is about service to others and coming together as a country for the betterment of the world. What are you doing to make this a better place to live??Maybe if we show the republicans that we can be non-partisian and stop all the name calling and digs, then maybe we could get the republicans on board with us, instead of on this blog and everyone talking smack. So I ask again, and Im gonna come back to see responses, what are you doing in this community to bring this country together? Who are you serving in this community to make it a better place for all??

No.... They it's just the only people that post comments here any more. Plus, it's actually one guy with several user names that had nothing better to do today.

Wow just plain wow. Judging by all these ignorant posts, I'd say Lawrence has turned into a full-fledged backward hicksville. Where are the normal people? No wonder I moved away from there. Guess the rednecks took over. What a shame since you were the last great town in Kansas. Anyways, God Bless America and Obama as he is our 44th President. Haters: Get over yourselves. You had 8 years and look where it got us.

Might be short lived. The question of his eligiblity as a natural-born citizen hasn't been resolved.

I awoke this morning, sad...Oh so sad.... I believe Democracy has been dealt a swift blow. Clutched over in a heap of "United" agony, fearful of "Change". These Obama's and their "Hope", blah... I guess all I can do now is spread my despair, self-pity, and sad little life on silly internet blogs cause some people actually read my words and I like that.... argh....Mark it....... Obama..... 1/20/09...... where were you when...... I became a sad little person....ohh snap......Change....enjoy....

Aren't you people over this already?! MOVE ON. Support our current President, just as many had to support the one before him, regardless of his mistakes/corruption/etc...No one is perfect, and the wonderful about America is that WE as a nation voted him into office. Congratulations Mr. President. Prove the non-believers wrong.

Remember that the O'dude was all in favor of public financing of political campaigns until Axelrod showed him how to allow massive donations of untraceable cash through the web. Wonder how much of that was from foreign sources. We'll never know.

Typically appalling that the anonymous right wingers on this comment forum cheer another human beings' ill health and wish for another terror attack on America. Is that what happens when you wingnuts don't get your way? You've had your way for 8 years, and piddled away an opportunity to overturn Roe v Wade and establish Christianity in public schools. Now, neither is ever going to happen. All you right wingers have left is being cheerleaders for al-Qaeda.

Can this be the Lawrence I left 8 years ago? You sound like a bunch of uneducated hoohaws from the fabled Ozarks. Do you keep corncobs by your outdoor toilets? How embarrassing for Lawrence...Cindy

hey local moron, slick willie had more to do with 9/11 than President Bush.omaba wants to regulate carbon emissions, how stupid. be prepared to pay for $8.00 per gallon of gasoline, it will happen for sure with the enviro-whackos in charge. The Iraqi people are now FREE because of American intervention! Al qaeda will strike again within the next 6 months. They love having omaba as President because they know he is a wus and will not retaliate against any terrorists.what a bunch of idiots (the leftist omaba regime).

0

local_support 5 years, 2 months ago

You say Bush kept us safe, I say 9/11 happened on his watch. Not to mention the economic collapse and two wars we're still saddled with.Final Grade: F+ (He gets the plus because his Bushisms were so entertaining)

...and log, what do you have to say about geithner not paying payroll taxes? Can you explain that to all of your democrap posters?

0

logrithmic, shouldn't you be thanking GW for keeping the US safe for the past 8 years? I wonder if Hussein will take on the last democraps taste for cigars in the white house. Could there be a another Monica?

The turn a round of our economy by blowing $200,000,000 on a big circle jerk. More of the same nonsense in D.C. Waste, waste, waste.

Log: I've always known that name calling befits the fascist left. Its just that you're not very good at it.

0

logrithmic 5 years, 2 months ago

Still waiting on the promises scumbag that you said Obama made regarding Gitmo and FISA. Still waiting and ll of your lies and obfuscations won't let you off the hook.

0

logrithmic 5 years, 2 months ago

it is a shame that the rightwing hates America and its ideals isn't it?

0

Orwell 5 years, 2 months ago

Why do so many of the commenters here hate America?

0

XD40 5 years, 2 months ago

Thanks snap. Obama will sign an executive order to close Gitmo but it won't happen. I'll bet four years from today the prison will still be there and it will hold prisoners detained on Obama's watch. Obama voted for the version of FISA that GWB and the majority of Americans supported. Thats why he'll continue to support it. He's finally seeing the intelligence reports. He will want to continue protecting the country in the same way GWB did.If you were at all well informed, Log, you'd know these things.

Do tell what promises he has made regarding FISA and Gitmo. Would like this on the record scumbag so that we can laugh at you when your predictions fall short. In fact I'm laughing now!

0

XD40 5 years, 2 months ago

It is the fascist left which will howl the loudest over Obama's 'broken promises' on Gitmo & FISA that will fuel Obama's demise.

logrithmic (Anonymous) says… "Maybe we will have a decent president this time around instead of one looking to line his pockets and those of his friends by lying us into war, torturing, violating constitutional requirements such as upholding laws and following laws, and one who will do away with torture, warrantless wiretapping, spying by the government (Pentagon, FBI, and CIA) on American citizens without probable cause, etc."Nope, we got the same exact president as before, just with different packaging.

The real parade begins tomorrow. The parade of the big-money people who financed the O'dude show. They will all be wanting considerations. logy, are you talking about Sam Adams, Democratic mayor of Portland and infamous pedo there?

0

XD40 (Anonymous) says… I wish Obama luck. He's going to need it. Especially, given his links to corruption in Chicago and his associations with folks like Tony Rezko, Blago, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Pflegler, et. al.Better these small potatoes guys, than the big time miscreants at Blackwater, Enron, Haliburton and the Saudi oil thieves.

0

logrithmic 5 years, 2 months ago

The rightwing and its ridiculous penchant for breaking the law. Criminals and scumbags one and all....

0

walter_sobchak 5 years, 2 months ago

one amateur replacing another. here comes your hope and change, sheep.

0

XD40 5 years, 2 months ago

I wish Obama luck. He's going to need it. Especially, given his links to corruption in Chicago and his associations with folks like Tony Rezko, Blago, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Pflegler, et. al. He will not close Club Gitmo or revise FISA. The left will get their panties in a true knot when there are no show trials in the style of Stalin and Mao. He will prolong the recession because he will make the same mistakes FDR did.He will have only one term. He will be too embarrassed by his failures to seek a second term.

0

logrithmic 5 years, 2 months ago

Maybe we will have a decent president this time around instead of one looking to line his pockets and those of his friends by lying us into war, torturing, violating constitutional requirements such as upholding laws and following laws, and one who will do away with torture, warrantless wiretapping, spying by the government (Pentagon, FBI, and CIA) on American citizens without probable cause, etc.I also hope he appoints special prosecutors to go after the frat-boy fuhrer who has pampered his way down to a mansion in Dallas. That scumbag needs to do some hard time in Leavenworth after some special attention in Gitmo.God bless!

I heard Kennedy just collapse at a celebration party, every cloud has a silver lining. Of coarse the media will serve up this proverbial "passing of the torch" story for the plebes to devour.
