- After losing for the second time this season to a traditional basketball powerhouse, Northern Arizona coach Mike Adras wasn’t about to lambaste his team. “We’ve lost two games that we’re supposed to lose. That’s just the reality of the situation,” he said after Kansas University routed the Lumberjacks, 87-46, Wednesday in Allen Fieldhouse.

- The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for life without Larry Johnson. The Pro Bowl running back sustained an injury to his right foot after catching a pass in the fourth quarter of Kansas City’s 33-22 loss to Green Bay on Sunday. Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said he didn’t know the extent of the injury, but he already was thinking about ways to revive a feeble offense without its main weapon.

- It seemed meaningless to the few hundred fans left in the Arrowhead Stadium stands, but to the head Chief, Kansas City’s 11th-hour touchdown drive was pretty important. “You don’t want to get shut out,” Kansas City coach Herm Edwards said. “That was a tribute to those guys on offense, moving the ball, making a couple of plays.”
