George Jones, Berryton, is a member of the Jayhawk Model Masters, a club that takes model airplanes out to fly from a miniature airstrip east of the Clinton Lake dam area. The club has nearly 80 members.
"B.W.," the bookworm mascot of Half Price bookstore, was at Kennedy School on Wednesday to deliver books for students as part of the Lawrence Education Achievement Partners, or LEAP, program.
Lucy Seaver, Lawrence, turned 88 on 8/08/08. Despite the number of eights in her life, Seaver says her lucky number is four.
