- It was high-scoring, closely contested and down to the wire. The Mavericks met the Cougars in a U8 DCABA game Wednesday at Youth Sports Inc. and the fans, parents and coaches were treated to a nail biter. When the dust settled it was the Mavericks who came out on top with a 12-11 victory.

- On a night of big-time NBA playoff action, two teams squared off at the Community Building in their own championship game. With flashes of defense and a lot of running, the game resembled an all-star contest and ended with a 59-41 Hoopster victory against Cougars Court.

- They run. And they run a lot. Thanks to eighth-year head coach Sarah Garcia’s emphasis on conditioning, the U10 Kaw Valley Force girls are in great shape to win their last two games of the season.

- Whether it was the delayed start or the chilliness in the air, both the 10U Red Sox and Falcons started the game a little cold. But once the game was in full swing it was a different story and the Red Sox ran to a big 21-3 victory May 8 at 4H Wrigley Field.
- Wizards hold Silly Willy Weasels scoreless

- There were just a few teams left on the fields at Youth Sports Inc. in the late afternoon Saturday. Two of them were the Silly Willy Weasels and the Wizards locked in a U13 battle on field 12. The Wizards struck twice late in the first half and used their defense to keep the Weasels out of the net and come away with a 2-0 victory.
- Team Blue makes no bones about it in 8-6 win over Skeletons

- Things didn’t start out well, as the Skeletons opened the game scoring a goal for the other team, but they turned it around to compete in a shootout with team Blue in a U6 Boys-A division coed match Saturday at Youth Sports Inc. Both teams went back and forth until the final whistle signaled an 8-6 Blue victory.

- The U14 KSA Renegades may be a new team playing in its first season together, but they have amassed a 4-1 regular season record and have had some fun doing it.
- Coyotes take a bite out of Kiwi Force

- The howls of coyotes could be heard ringing around the fields at Youth Sports Inc. Saturday morning. These coyotes weren’t animals, but a group of players on the U10 Division 2 team Howling Coyotes, who celebrated a 5-1 victory against Kiwi Force continuing their undefeated season.

- Nearly 300 athletes from the four Lawrence junior high schools descended on Southwest Jr. High April 26 for the eighth edition of the Bulldog Relays.
