Page, 24, came within 10 pins of defeating PBA veteran Parker Bohn III at the Spartanburg Classic, the tour’s eighth event of the season.

The Firebirds were out of sync for the entire first quarter of Friday’s game against Olathe North, but shook off the rust in the second to cruise to a 43-29 victory at Free State High.

The Lawrence High sophomore was set for a two-and-a-half front somersault dive, when the announcement came for him to step down so the previous diver could dive again. The break in concentration didn’t matter.
