At what moment did you realize you wanted to become a journalist? And if there wasn't a specific point in time, what was the motivating factor?
When I was growing up in Denver, I used to go to Nuggets games all the time (what can I say, I enjoy pain). I always dreamed of how cool it would be to cover those games for a living.
When you really want to relax and let your hair down in Lawrence, where do you go and what do you do?
I'm one of those people who always has to be doing something. I love going on long runs, playing basketball, or just walking through downtown Lawrence.
What comes to your mind as the most memorable local story you've covered?
Roy Williams "I'm Stayin'" press conference in 2000. Who knew that he meant "I'm stayin' until something better comes along!"
If you couldn't be a reporter, what occupation would you want to try? A rocket scientist. Or a ski bum.
Which two people do you admire most? One should be someone you know. The other, someone you've never met.
My mother, because of her strength and enthusiasm, and Mickey Mantle, who I never had the chance to meet, but have long admired.
If you were stranded on a deserted island with only one song to listen to and one book to read for the duration, what would they be?
Song: anything by Tim McGraw. Book: "Bringing Down The House," while dreaming about Las Vegas.
If they were going to execute you tomorrow, rightly or wrongly, what would your last meal consist of?
A hot dog on a warm spring day at Hoglund Ballpark.
