Emergency workers tend to a 24-year-old man who was hit by a car early Monday near Sixth Street and Crestline Drive. He was later flown to a Kansas City area hospital.

Teachers in the Eudora school district have organized a “No Hate” campaign to raise money for Lawrence’s Headquarters Counseling Center.

Children participating in the MDA camp in Linwood head to the camp pool Tuesday. Throughout the week, 67 children who live with muscular dystrophy are able to experience a taste of life without the debilitating disease. “There is no typical day in this place,” said Angela Hills, MDA Camp coordinator. “This is their week to be kids, not kids with Muscular Dystrophy.”

Carol Seivley, a retired school teacher, started the “Doody Dude” company to help pay for her health insurance. The business charges about $20 per yard, per week.

Peggy, who belongs to Leslie Bruce, of Lawrence, is ready for a long walk.
