Brian Powell (Free State Studio producer)

Originally from Salina, I graduated from KU in 1990 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. By that point, I had interned ('88), worked in production ('89), and finally shot news ('90) for channel six. I left the station for an opportunity to work on KU's Coaches Shows and served eight seasons as video coordinator for KU's football team. I returned to channel 6 in 1996 as a part-time production assistant and moved into a fulltime supervisory role in late '98 directing newscasts and producing River City Weekly...a position that allows me to share an appreciation of the incredible history and culture of this wonderful community. Away from work, I try to spend time in this state's great outdoors riding bicycles (with my wife and children), reading (to my kids), catching baseballs and dodging snowballs.
