- The first season of basketball wrapped up for many kids in Lawrence on Saturday as they played in the final round of games for the kindergarten recreation league. The kindergarten Team 1 won their last game of the year against the Jayhawks 16-14 at the Community Building.
- Tigers display offensive skill in 20-point win

- The first-grade Tigers put on an offensive showcase for all the fans at the East Lawrence Center on Saturday. The Tigers scored no less than eight points in each of the four quarters. The Tigers’ high-octane offensive output helped them pick up the win over the Falcons, 42-22.
- Buzzer beater gives Yellow Jackets win

- The sixth- and seventh-grade Yellow Jackets and Wildcats played a nail biter that came down to the final seconds of the game. The Yellow Jackets went home victorious 32-30 after a buzzer beater shot fell through to beat the Wildcats Dec. 12 at the East Lawrence Center.
- Firehawks beat Giants by 2 in finale
- December 21, 2005
- The final game of the season between the second-grade Firehawks and Giants ended up being one of the highest scoring and evenly matched affairs of the year. The Firehawks outlasted and outscored the Giants, 32-30, Saturday at the East Lawrence Center.
- Bobcats, Rockets both win in 26-all tie
- December 14, 2005
- The second-grade Bobcats and Rockets battled back and forth for 32 minutes but when the final whistle blew both teams went home winners. The Bobcats and Rockets finished their game with 26 points each Saturday at the East Lawrence Recreation Center.

- Full-court press, free throws highlight Tigers’ comeback victory

- The sixth- and seventh-grade Tigers pulled off a second-half comeback to beat the Razorbacks, 31-27, Dec. 5 at the East Lawrence Center.
- Hot Hoops pass their way to 34-14 victory over Team 14
- December 14, 2005
- The first-grade Hot Hoops used superior passing skills to beat Team 14, 34-14, Saturday at the East Lawrence Recreation Center. The Hot Hoops passed the ball as many as 10 times on a single possession several times during the game. Hot Hoops coach Greg Easter said passing is a point of emphasis for the team.
- Aquahawks work on perfecting techniques

- The Lawrence Aquahawks jumped back into the pool Saturday and Sunday at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center for the Level II Championships. Aquahawks coaching members said this meet served a couple of different purposes in terms of swimmers development.
- Bunches of Burnt Marshmallows mush together points in victory

- The fifth- and sixth-grade Burnt Marshmallows used a team concept by having seven different players score to help beat Team 3 Saturday at the Lawrence Community Building. Keith Loneker, Burnt Marshmallows coach, said the team showed off exactly what the coaches have been instilling during their weekly practices
- Bruins’ preseason experience shows in win

- The second- and third-grade Hoopster regular season tipped off Nov 30. Although neither team won the Hoopster preseason tournament, both teams gained valuable experience. That experience paid off for the Bruins as they defeated the Blue Devils 29-22 at the East Lawrence Recreation Center.

The Chops break through a team banner as friends and family cheer them on before the start of their game against the Gorillas Sept. 18 at Youth Sports Inc. The sixth-grade Chops went on to defeat the Gorillas 14-8 with the help of Reece Conklin's interception, fumble recovery and touchdown run at the end of the game.
